You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 805

Patricia listened, her brow knitting tighter with every word.

She shifted in her seat, trying to catch a glimpse of his expression, but her eyes landed on his sneakers instead. They’d been scrubbed so many times they had turned yellow. His polo was clean, but the fabric spoke for itself—it had seen plenty of years.

Slowly, Patricia pulled her gaze away. “I don’t have the final say at Pacific Capital, but I’ll let them know about your situation.”

“So, just because your company is big, you get to push people around?” Dylan’s voice rose, frustration getting the better of him. He grabbed the seat back, ready to argue, but Jackson stopped him with a firm hand.

“Who said this was about Pacific Capital?”

Dylan blurted out a name. “Travis.”

Patricia pulled out her phone, searched for the name, and turned the screen toward Dylan. “You mean this guy?”

He nodded. “Yeah.”

Patricia looked at Jackson. “Find out who he is.”

Then she turned back. “Pull over and let him out.”

Dylan wasn’t ready to leave just yet. “Mrs. Padilla...” His voice trailed off, almost pleading.

Ignoring his worn-out clothes, Patricia looked him straight in the eye. “Ms. Klotz, I have to ask. This morning, I took a different car than usual. How did you track me down so easily?”

She didn’t wait for an answer. “You run your own business, right? Don’t you worry about being used? You don’t need me to explain what happens when you let panic lead the way.”

Her words sent a shiver through Dylan and quieted him right down.

Patricia let out a soft laugh. “Think about it. Who talked you into this?”
