You Can Run But You Can't Hide My Contractual Wife novel Chapter 286

After her show, the Enchantress went directly to her private dressing room.

Of all the performers there, she had the best suite located backstage.

It was like a mini room with her own vanity mirror where she could spend time putting on her own make-up and using the space to practice for her dance.

It was part of her request to the manager of the bar.

Facing the vanity mirror, she took off her mask.

She looked at her reflection seriously when her phone rang.

Looking at the caller, she quickly picked up.

“Brother.” It was her younger brother.

“Sister, help me! I’m at the police station now. They arrested me.” The boy on the other line cried out.

“What? What have you done this time, Anthony?” She roared in shock and panicked.

“It’s not me! It’s Michel and Dennis. They told me to take a package to an address in exchange for a big commission. But the policemen arrested me and got the package.” Anthony explained proving his innocence.

“What’s inside the package?” Without any calmness in her tone, the Enchantress asked worriedly.

“Anthony, what’s inside the package?” She asked her little brother again as she didn’t get any reply.

Her tone was mixed with anger, panic, and worries for her younger brother.

“Illegal… Illegal drugs.” Anthony answered nervously.

Upon hearing him, she trembled.

Her hand on the phone was shaking tremendously.

“I swear sister, I don’t know what’s inside that package. I am innocent!” Her brother defended himself.

“What did you promise me the last time, Anthony? And what did I tell you about your friends? For God’s sake, our mother just died and here you are again! When will you stop?” Her tears couldn’t help but slip out of her eyes.

Anthony was a good boy.

She tried her best to send him to school but when her mother got sick, she had to make him stop.

Her income would not fit in for their everyday living.

She worked many jobs in a day but even paying for her mother’s medication wasn’t enough.

For her family, she didn’t give up.

She didn’t choose her work as long as it is not illegal just to support her family.

Eventually, Anthony met his new friends in the slum where they transferred.

Then, he started to be her pain in the ass.

Before her mother died, she made her swear to take care of her brother.

“Do not give up on your brother. He has a good heart and you know that. He only has you. Do not give up on your family.” That was what her mother said before she finally closed her eyes.

That was too fresh in her memory.

More tears came rolling down her cheeks remembering her late mother.

“Sister, I can’t be in the prison. Please help me. I will go crazy here. You promise our mother. Please sister. Please help me. Come and take me home now.” Anthony was on the verge of breaking down.

He was caught so many times but she was always there to rescue him.

This time was different because it was a matter of illegal drugs.

She heard him only that she was lost for words and she couldn’t move.

From his tone, she could sense a big problem.

She heaved a very deep sigh.

She was going totally insane with the new problem involving her brother.

“I will be there.” After a moment of whimpering, she answered and ended the call.

She had to stabilize herself if she wanted to save her brother.

Quickly, she got the bottle of water on her side table then she drank it in one go when she heard a knock on her door.

“Just wait a minute.” She answered as she was still gathering all her things preparing to leave the room.

Another knock was heard again.

“Please wait. I’m coming.” She answered putting her mask on.

No one there had seen her face.

She didn’t want someone to see her face.

It’s not that she was embarrassed about her work but she just wanted the people to know her as the girl behind a mask.

After the third knock, she was already on in front of the door and was ready to leave.

She thought it was the manager who usually gave her talent fee after her performance for the night but when she got to see the person behind the door, her jaw dropped.

‘Why is this man here again?’ Her mind panicked seeing the man in front of her and the surrounding. It was already dark. ‘Where’s everyone?’

This club was open until 3: 30 a.m but her performance ended at midnight.

There’s so much time left before the closing time.

It was impossible that the manager would not knock or inform her in advance if they would close early.

Plus, she heard the owner of this bar loves money a lot.

He would never close this too early.

‘Who is this man?’ She was sure this man was the one responsible for everything that happen.

“Hi!” He smiled at her handsomely.

Her heart was racing so fast.

She was scared of the man.

He was a stranger.

“What are you doing here?” She didn’t have the time to have a conversation with the stranger as her brother was waiting for her.

“All the doors were closed from the outside. You can’t go home.” He said calmly sitting on the chair in the middle of the stage.

She had no time to listen to him.

She saw him as a pest in the night.

She just wished she didn’t meet this man.

Trying all her best to open all the doors, it was to no avail.

She felt bad luck with this man as she ran back to him on the stage.

“What do you want?” She was shouting mad already.

He was wasting her time.

It was not fair.

She was in a hurry as her brother was waiting for her.

This man was nobody in her life but he kept on pestering her.

“Take off your mask.” He said directly. Eric was also in shock with the compensation.

His words were too aggressive to see her face.

Just like that.

She slapped him and in return, he just wanted to see her face as his revenge.

Such lame!

He didn’t think of it earlier.

He thought of bullying her but it suddenly changed.

It seemed his mind had its own desire.

“You want to see my face? Then, I can go. Right?” She confirmed it.

Who would believe him? Slapping and handcuffing in exchange for her face?

She laughed.

Eric frowned then he smirked.

“Do it now before I changed my mind.” He said calmly on the chair with his arms folded in front.

“Why do you want to see my face?” She asked toughly.

“Because I didn’t want to see and meet you again. That’s for future reference.” Eric was obviously insulting her.

“And who said I want to see you too? Huh! You are the one who keeps on appearing in front of me!” She defended himself rolling her eyes.

“So, are you expecting after you slapped someone and play a little trick on them, they would not come after you?” He chuckled with the girl’s brain.

“You deserved it!” She was not regretting it.

“What are we going to do here? Is Adam here?” Bill opened the door for her.

She strode inside and as expected, the interior design was superb.

“Is this yours?” She asked with a dropped jaw.

Bill didn’t speak.

She already had many questions but he didn’t answer any.

Then he gave her a glass of wine.

He also had his.

He drank it and nestled on the couch of the living room.

She followed.

“Drink with me.” He clinked his glass on hers.

Then he drank his wine in one go.

‘What is his problem?’ She thought.

He was very quiet. Well, it was better than he was talking and ended up with endless fights.

She drank her wine too.

The place was quiet and the smell was very good.

She was with the man who was muted and she didn’t want to bother reading his thoughts.

He poured her glass again then poured his.

She wanted to talk about their son but judging from his cold expression, it wasn’t the right time.

He would just get angry or provoked her non-stopped.

Might as well enjoy the peacefulness between the two of them just for tonight.

She drank. He poured until the bottle was empty.

Her thought ran towards her father and Sen. Meyer.

Who could she trust?

Is she really let Sen. Meyer harass her life using her father?

She had to pay the price of her father’s mistake.

‘It’s so unfair!’

She was complaining secretly as she felt her cheeks were already burning.

She knew the alcohol was slowly hitting her but she continued drinking.

Bill got another bottle and pour her glass.

They have been drinking for quite a long time but they were not talking.

Arabella looked at Bill Sky.

For a very long time, it was the longest stare she made at him.

He was still very handsome.

It seemed the older he gets, the more handsome he becomes.

‘And that was so unfair too!’

She complained again secretly.

Sitting in front of her, Bill looked at her. Their eyes met.

She quickly averted her gaze to the side and drank her wine.

Then, Bill stood up and sat beside her.

He almost released the glass of wine in her hand but luckily Bill got it.

He put the glass on the table then he held her hand.

She looked at him.

His eyes were like talking to her sincerely.

“Sleep with me tonight.”
