You Are Mine Little Sister (by Syra Tucker) novel Chapter 182

VOID

"Seriously? You emptied half the shop?" Miles leaned into the open trunk, staring at the bags of books. "You closing them down just so she'll talk to you longer?"

I exhaled through my nose and let my eyes do the sighing. "The store's bigger than my trunk, Miles. Just make sure you and Eric have them distributed like I said."

I didn't give a damn about books, my favorite salesgirl had fretted about them 'going to waste,' even after I promised they wouldn't. I intended to keep my word.

I hooked two bags and shouldered past him. Miles stayed there, still holding the hatch and staring inside.

"I'd never really understand love," he mumbled.

"Stand in line," I told him as I went inside.

Katya was running the treadmill while Eric was focused on a movie, a bowl of popcorn balanced on his stomach. I was about to ruin that fun.

"You back," Katya said, tapping down the speed.

Eric paused the movie mid-explosion. "How did it go, boss?" He glanced at the door behind me. "Is she dusting her shoes outside?"

I threw two books at each of them. "You have the whole of today and tomorrow morning to finish those. Read them closely. I want clean summaries by sunup."

They did synchronized confusion.

"I...think I'm missing something. I never asked for books." Eric looked at Katya. "Did you?"

"Nah."

"I'm not in the mood to yawn," I told them both. "Just make sure you read them. And give these to Miles." I dropped two more on the couch and turned for my room.

"Wait, what's going on? Why do we have to read them?" Eric's voice went high enough to fog glass.

I stopped, my patience snagging on a nail, and faced him. "Because I have a bet. She strongly believes I wouldn't be able to read all eight books. I'm determined to prove her wrong."

"And... you're determined to prove her wrong using us? With all due respect, boss, reading eight books isn't possible. I promise if you'd agreed with her, it wouldn't have made you less charming."

Katya nodded. "He's right."

Well, maybe.

"It doesn't matter anymore. The books are here already. So, get to work."

Eric flipped through the pages with horrified eyes. "Boss, I haven't read a damn book since I was fifteen. There's a reason I don't teach for a living but specialize in ending lives.

"You should get to work with this time, Eric. Trust me, you don't want to know the ending if I'm disappointed."

I walked away.

All I came home to do was freshen up and go right back to my car. Then, I drove down to Belmonte Street where I knew I'd be spending the night.

RALI

'How does she taste, brother? Still good, even after being fucked by the Cos?' Mayor's finger slid behind my back.

Marshall was in front of me, thrusting brutally, taking what I did not give.

'You'll be ours by the weekend, you know?'

'We're already getting your room prepped.'

'It's right between ours.'

'The door does not have a lock.'

'Neither does the bathroom.'

'You'll be readily available to us, Rali. Every time of the day.'

'We could come fuck you while you're asleep,'

'Completely ours.'

'Ours.'
