“I’m Monique.” She wanted to explain that she was the newly hired chauffeur, worried that they might not know who she was.
Her sweet voice was very pleasant to the ears.
Before she could elaborate further, the person on the other end of the phone cleared his throat and said in a respectful manner, “Miss Xander, please don’t trouble yourself. Thank you for the offer.”
Shaun answered politely. Even though Monique was their chauffeur, he could see that the chairman treated her differently from the others. He assumed that she might be his mistress.
How dare he ask the chairman’s mistress to bring him coffee. He might as well dig his own grave.
“No trouble at all. I’m here at Mansion Coffee. I’ll just order coffee for you guys, no worries,” Monique said enthusiastically.
When she thought about the number of people she had to buy coffee for in the general manager’s office, she felt a pinch in her chest since she would be exhausting all the earnings she gained today. On another thought, she felt that it would be worth it if she could finally clear things up so that they would not look at her and Angel strangely anymore.
She was fine with it; she had experienced all sorts of judgment raising Angel alone. However, she did not want Angel to live like this. She tried her best to shield her from them.
Shaun carefully interpreted what she said and thought about his own position. If Miss Xander was really in a relationship with the chairman, he could not afford to offend her. Was she trying to get acquainted with the chairman’s subordinates? If that was the case, he could do her a favor by accepting her offer.
“Oh well, if you really insist. Thank you. I’ll pay the money back to you later,” Shaun replied, his tone remaining polite.
Inside, he thought about how scheming this woman must be to try gaining the favor of the chairman’s staff so soon.
On the other hand, Miss Cindy Lee had to stop daydreaming; she had to face reality and work hard. In order to be Cinderella, you had to be born into a noble family.
“You!” Cindy frowned with anger when she heard her. She was at a loss for words. She took a deep breath and glared at Monique; her face covered in heavy make-up seemed rather distorted.
She was using Cinderella to mock Monique, but instead, Monique said that she was incomparable to Cinderella! That also meant that she was not her equal.
Monique did not want to keep dwelling on the subject with Cindy any further. She had nothing to say to women like her, who always dreamt of latching onto some rich guy.
She headed back to her seat after that to wait for her order.
