The chairman was definitely treating her like a pig.
However, she could not make such comments since Monique did not know these were brought by the chairman himself. Monique thought she ordered it for her, so she simply blurted an excuse, “Well… I didn’t know what you liked, so I ordered a lot." She looked at Monique with an awkward smile.
Monique was speechless for a moment, but her heart felt warm. “Thank you, Mandy!”
Mandy gave her a smile. “You…” She wanted to say that she fell into the sea earlier, so she must eat a lot of food to regain her strength, but the chairman told her not to mention anything about falling into the water, so she switched gears. “You should eat now.”
Monique nodded, picking up the cutlery and ate the one that was nearest to her. She put the food into her mouth and chewed. “It’s good!”
Mandy was still standing where she was. “You should eat more then.”
These were the chairman’s gifts.
Monique noticed she was still standing and had no intention of sitting down to eat with her. She put down the cutlery and said, “Mandy, come here and eat with me.”
Mandy’s stomach was already grumbling when she smelled the delicious food, but Mr. Moore bought them for Monique, and she did not dare eat it! She looked aside to avoid herself from seeing the food, instead gazing at Monique’s exquisite face; she was giving her a gentle smile.
“I already ate before I came here.” Mandy smiled, but her voice was not convincing. She had barely eaten anything yet. When she was about to eat after work, Mr. Moore called her to bring a set of clothes there, so she bought the clothes and rushed to the hospital post haste. She had no time to eat after that.
If someone had not saved her, she might never see Angel again. When she was rescued, and Logan was urgently sent to the hospital, her phone was turned off after it dropped into the water. She took out her phone. She did wipe it again when she was changing earlier, but she did not try to turn it on.
Mandy took the phone and opened it to check the battery. The phone was waterproof; its internal parts were dry and not soaked with water. For safety’s sake, she blew it with the hair dryer for a moment. Then, she inserted the battery back into the phone and turned it on again. The phone turned on within seconds.
Monique did not have many friends; there were rarely any call records in her phone. However, it was surprising to see ten missed calls and some messages after it was turned on. She browsed them; the missed calls were mostly from Henry, and some were from Louise.
Why did Henry call her?
