Wrong Ride, Right Lover novel Chapter 480

There were many cabs waiting outside the bar. Monique approached the nearest vehicle and boarded. She was so tired that her legs threatened to give out.

She needed to sit.

The cab driver was a middle-aged man in a yellow shirt. He was smoking a cigarette while waiting for customers. When someone came into the vehicle, he quickly put out the cigarette.

The interior still smelled like smoke.

The cab driver turned around and smiled at Monique. He said. “Was bored waiting so I smoked a bit. Where are you headed, miss?”

At least he was a responsible driver.

Monique was once a cab driver herself and knew that many male drivers smoked.

She was not prejudiced against those who smoked but due to her driving experience, she did not like the smell of cigarettes in a car.

However, it was an exhausting day. Monique’s heart was tired and she looked moresely at the driver. She asked, “Can I get a cigarette?”

While it was no surprise for women who frequented bars to smoke, this passenger looked to be a sweet lady. The driver was surprised to find a delicate-looking woman with bright eyes like her asking for a cigarette. The question clashed with her innocent image, especially when she was wearing a white dress.

The woman seemed uneasy. Although there was ample space in the back seat, she was curled up against the door.

She looked like a stray cat; lonely and pitiful.

The driver nodded—he handed her a cigarette and lit it for her.

Cough.

She felt like giving up when she saw the hatred in his eyes yesterday. He looked as if he would kill her. Yet, her heart still ached when she saw him with another woman.

Monique was ashamed of herself.

Henry Moore was a safe haven in Monique’s life. Years of suffering made her wary of trusting people, yet she could not stay away from him.

When she was kidnapped by Xavier, Henry came to her rescue like a knight in shining armor. He even personally brought food up to her room.

He was also the first man to treat Angel like his own daughter. He gave Angel a father and a family. He even promised to always treat Angel well.

They were like a family the day he read Angel a story. Although he sounded awkward, it did not diminish the blissful moment where they could just enjoy the mundane. The simple joys in life were all Monique wished for.
