Monique’s mood lightened when she thought of Angel. She smiled and said, “She’s rather quick-witted for her age.”
“Yeah, she’s incredibly smart. I’ll have to ask her how she guessed it when I return to work.” Louise Lou was relieved when she saw Monique finally brightened up.
She thought that she would wait until tomorrow when Monique felt better to tell her that Angel had come here to look for her and that Simon Leeds had been arrested.
Louise helped to clean up after Monique finished the porridge.
Monique finally regained some strength after eating. She glanced at the bed and saw the mobile phone and recalled how Angel hung up abruptly. She fell into a daze and finally remembered that she had forgotten to return Simon’s call when she saw Louise bring her more food.
Simon had called her several times.
Monique dialed his number twice but no one picked up.
She stood up to go to the bathroom.
Louise walked in and helped her up, “Why did you get up?”
Monique noticed the cautiousness and concern in Louise’s eyes. She put on a faint smile and said, “No worries, I’m not that weak. I just want to go to the bathroom.”
After returning from the bathroom, she saw the table was filled with a variety of dishes that were unopened. She felt sorry and asked Louise, “You haven’t eaten yet?”
Louise did not say anything this time. She went to take two bowls, cutleries, and two wine glasses. She placed a bottle of wine on the table and poured for herself and Monique a full glass each, “Men are trash. Don’t think about them anymore. There is so much food on the table, treat these as those punks, and eat them.”
Louise raised her glass while she said that.
Monique looked at the wine glass in a trance. She hesitated as she got into trouble on the only two times she drank.
Her first time was with someone unknown, the second time was Henry Moore.
He took advantage of her while she was drunk.
