Wrong Ride, Right Lover novel Chapter 456

When Angel saw that the call was from her mother, she answered it without much thought. She figured that Monique should be free if she was able to call her.

Her daddy did not lie to her this time. Henry told her that her mother would be calling her the next day but instead called her a day earlier.

On second thought, Angel felt a little upset that her mother did not call her since she was free.

“Where are you?” Angel pouted. Her tone was not as excited as before.

Monique sensed the slight change in her emotions and said, “Sorry, I forgot to tell you. I was out of town yesterday and my phone battery died.”

Monique built on the excuse Henry gave. She was not in a good place and needed some time alone.

‘So Mommy did go out of town.’

Angel misunderstood Henry.

However, she could not help but feel a slight resentment toward her mommy.

Monique did not tell her beforehand that she was going to be out of town, and she was so worried that something happened to her mommy.

She even thought that Monique had abandoned her.

She was haunted by the worries in her heart.

When Monique received a long pause from the other end of the phone, she asked, “Angel, are you angry at mommy?”

She should be angry. Her Uncle Simon got arrested by the police just for helping her look for Monique.

However, she did not want to make her mother worried.

Angel pouted and said indifferently, “When are you coming back?”

Angel was truly mad this time.

Fortunately, Mrs. Lawson had been taking good care of Angel, so it would not be a problem for her to stay in Moore manor by herself.

Monique looked at her phone and mumbled, “Angel, let mommy be selfish just this once. I can’t love you fully if there’s only an empty soulless shell. I'll be back very soon after taking this break.”

Louise Lou overheard that Monique was on the phone with Angel by the door and waited until they finished talking before entering the room.

“Food’s here. The porridge smells great. I chose the best restaurant in B City when Chairman Moore said that it’ll be his treat,” Louise said to Monique happily.

Monique’s eyes darkened when she heard Henry’s name. Her entire body tensed up and was overwhelmed by a painful and suffocating sensation. The feeling that she had just shoved down had resurfaced once more.

She felt a slight burn in her nose as her eyes reddened.
