Wrong Ride, Right Lover novel Chapter 400

Henry was so caught up with work that he did not notice that Monique was still there after dropping off the coffee.

“Welcome,” he replied distractedly. It was just a mere flower bouquet. If she liked it, Henry could arrange for one every day.

Monique stood awkwardly wringing her hands.

Was that all?

That was his response?

A mere “welcome” without any follow up?

Henry continued reading the documents in silence.

At that point, Monique retreated from the office.

She was embarrassed. What did she hope he would say?

That he missed her?

What happened to the shy Monique?

She wondered why Henry called her to deliver his coffee.

Did the 23rd floor not have coffee?

She returned to the planning department frustrated as questions plagued her mind.

When she walked into the office, she felt stares coming from her coworkers.

At lunchtime, everyone left for lunch except for Monique.

She glanced at her phone, wondering if Henry had his lunch. She remembered that he only took a small bite of breakfast before leaving the house this morning.

Monique wondered how the conversation would go.

Suddenly, his phone started ringing. A feminine voice came through the phone speakers, “Dearie, did you already have your lunch?”

Monique’s hand trembled as she made the call. Her palms were sweaty and she wondered if she overstepped…

What would he say?

Henry was surprised and he even checked the caller ID to make sure it was Monique. It was the first time the woman initiated and asked him about lunch.

A smile formed on his face as he said, “No.”

Monique was not surprised to hear the negative answer. Her cheeks werex red as she asked, “Do you want to have lunch together?”

It was her first time asking him for a lunch date.

She figured it was the least she could do after Henry gave her flowers and a promotion.
