Monique stared—in surprise—at Yvonne’s back as she left. She looked at the phone and returned it to her. Nothing fishy seemed to have happened. She held Angel’s hand and walked toward her car suspiciously. Carl had already opened the car door the moment he saw her walking over.
Monique kept thinking of Yvonne who acted weirdly and did not think of the way she walked. She carried Angel to the car. As she got in the car, she shouted as she felt a searing pain in her nether region.
Angel was deeply concerned and looked at her with her big black eyes. Angel stretched out her hand and pulled her arm. “Mommy, what’s wrong?”
Carl closed the car door and walked toward the driver seat.
Monique had to think fast. She raised her brows and said, “Nothing. A pig attacked me.”
A pig attacked her?
Angel opened her eyes wide in astonishment. “Where’s the pig? I’ll ask daddy to kill it.”
Angel gestured as she exclaimed. She was salivating as she thought of the pork chop.
Monique’s lips twitched. ‘It’s your Daddy.’
“It ran away.”
“Where were you attacked? I’ll ask daddy to chase after it. Pigs run slow. He’ll be able to catch it.”
Monique was speechless. ‘Can you stop asking this question!’
“Have you talked things out with Kole today?” Monique changed the topic.
Angel lifted her pink lips and smiled. “He came over and apologized to me. He even brought candy for me but I didn’t take it. However, we’re okay now. He even played with me today.”
That was the kids’ world. How simple!
Monique nodded. She suddenly recalled what Mrs. Lawson said as they were reaching Moore manor and started to feel uneasy again.
Mandy was stunned but snapped to her senses immediately. She respectfully bowed. “Sure.”
She did not have much contact with Monique. They had only met a few times. Even though she looked elegant, many others looked prettier than her.
It seemed like both of them did not really care.
Her sister knew nothing. She was lazy and inefficient.
Monique, on the other hand, was very serious at work, except that she had no experience and was not capable. There were many others in the company who were better than her.
From this perspective, she did not seem outstanding at all.
