It sounded like a good plan. The embarrassment Monique was suffering from those few days was unspeakably depressing, she nearly suffocated.
She needed to catch a breath.
She wanted to go back very much. Besides, missed her grandfather immensely.
“Sure. I’ll take a leave and go home,” Monique answered. She increased the volume of her voice just so that he could hear it.
Monique hung up the phone and walked over.
“I need to take two days off.” A clear and stubborn voice broke the silence in the office.
For a long time, the house was completely silent.
His handsome and sharp face looked cold. His thin lips were pressed tightly and his cold vibes became stronger.
After a while, he closed the document, raised his eyes, and gazed at her.
He casually leaned on the chair with both of his legs naturally overlapped. He looked like an emperor with his elegant temperament.
Monique’s heart was beating fast. The man in front of him—regardless of his hairstyle, height, or clothing—looked gorgeous and exuded an inexplicable danger.
His penetrating gaze made her tremble. She bit the bullet and said it again, “My uncle is looking for me. I need to go back.”
“What’s the matter?” The man’s eyes were stern. His voice sounded cold and he looked at her with his stern eyes as he spoke.
She was on pins and needles under such a gaze. Her heart was slightly pained but soon she smiled. “None of your business!”
That was right. What did this matter had to do with him?
He was not related to her.
Moreover, he had so many drivers, it made no difference.
Unlike a few days ago, she looked rather elegant—like a wholly different person. Her face was gloomy, and she did not care to bother him these days. Did he hurt her too deeply?
The man’s stiffened face relaxed ever so slightly, and his gaze was not as stern as before. It took a long time before his magnetic voice entered her ear. “Listen, you’re not allowed to go out with anyone of the opposite sex.”
The deep magnetic voice paired with his cold tone sounded like an imposing king.
Monique was stunned. The corner of her eyes throbbed. What did this cold warning mean? He was so strict yet she agreed in her soft voice since he had approved her leave.
Henry could tell her stubbornness and malevolence despite her obedience these days.
‘Forget about it. I’ll rest at home.’
Monique took it as an acquiesce. She turned around and went back to the couch.
He looked at her beautiful petite back view and had an urge to catch her. He said coldly, “Come back.”
