Winning Her Heart back (Emelie and William) novel Chapter 891

Samuel opened the box in front of Wesley and glanced at what was inside.

Wesley wasn't bothered by it though. He said, "Thanks for your help."

Then, he left.

Samuel said helplessly, "Geez, Wesley."

He had only been Emelie's groom for several hours, and he was overwhelmed with a mix of emotions. How was Wesley, who was engaged to her for years, supposed to feel?

Wesley was so close to marrying Emelie, but everything was turned upside down at the last minute. No one but Wesley could possibly know how it felt.

Also, no one knew what Wesley and Emelie would mean to each other when they met in the future. For that matter, how were they supposed to treat each other?

Emelie changed into a Cedonian-styled dress for the toasts. Her white satin blouse came with gold trims, and she paired it up with a red brocade skirt. Her long hair was styled into a simple yet intricate updo with two gold hairpins in it.

Emelie didn't wear any earrings because she had a tanzanite necklace around her neck. If she did, her whole look would become too busy and too much.

The tanzanites were strung together on a diamond chain with a fringe. It would sway gently as she walked, giving rise to an elegant sight.

Meanwhile, William also wore a black Cedonian-styled suit to match her outfit. The white shirt featured a stand-up collar. So, he didn't need a tie or a bow tie. It was simple yet graceful.

The suit jacket had a diagonal placket with traditional Cedonian knots.

William looked very mild right now. So, this outfit fitted him very well.

The groom and the bride drank a toast at every table, and they eventually worked their way to Samuel's table.

Emelie greeted him, "Mr. Swanson."

Samuel clinked his wine glass with William and Emelie's gracefully. "Congratulations on the wedding. Here's wishing you two stay together forever."

Both of them swapped glances and smiled slightly. "Thank you."

Samuel finished his glass of wine. Then, he took the decanter from the table and freshened up his glass.

He spoke leisurely, "Have one more drink with me, Mr. Middleton. It's the least you can do."

Naturally, Samuel was right. William wouldn't have snatched Emelie away from Wesley if Samuel hadn't given him a shove in the right direction.

William readily took a bottle of wine from the waiter behind him and freshened up his glass.

She said, "Back when Wesley gave it to me as a gift, he meant to bind me to his side. He wanted me to remember that I had to go back and marry him. Now that he's giving this bracelet to me, it probably means that he's moving on from me completely."

Samuel said warmly, "In any case, he had your best interests at heart."

Emelie felt a mix of emotions. "I know that."

They shot the breeze for a little while before William and Emelie needed to drink with other party guests. So, they had no choice but to leave.

Emelie put on the white topaz bracelet as she walked. She deliberately shook it in front of William. "Aren't you jealous now?"

William responded dryly, "Am I supposed to get jealous over a bracelet that's not even 100 bucks? The answer is a resounding no."

Emelie said sarcastically, "How I wish that's true."

William felt that Emelie was thoroughly his. So, both Wesley and Samuel were no one but people who had lost to him. There was no reason for him to be afraid of them.

William ought to be generous and open-minded. Wesley and Samuel could drink with Emelie or give her gifts. It wouldn't bother him, not even a little.

With that said, William couldn't help but frown when he saw the white topaz bracelet swaying on Emelie's slender wrists.

It was such an eyesore at the end of the day. He would secretly stash it away when he got the chance.
