Orion looked up at Sophia and motioned for the secretary to close the door and clear the room.

He was genuinely curious how Sophia had learned of this.

Once the door clicked shut, Sophia went on, “So it really was you.”

She hadn’t wanted to believe it, but now doubt gnawed at her.

If Orion were truly uninvolved, why would he force everyone else to leave the room so suddenly? That could only mean a guilty conscience.

She looked at Orion in disbelief. “How could you do something like this? My mother always treated you so well—she thought of you as family.”
