When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 760

He had actually been waiting for Lemira to arrive—there were questions he wanted answered, and he wanted to ask them with her present.

Orion glanced at the man beside him and promptly removed the man’s blindfold and gag.

When the middle-aged man opened his eyes and saw Lemira, his expression shifted noticeably.

Lemira stepped forward. “You recognize me, don’t you?”

“I… I don’t know who you are.”

“Still trying to deny it? You were at the Langston Estate—and you killed the butler.”

The man grew visibly more anxious.

“You’ve also met with Evelina. You’re her uncle.”

Lemira faced him squarely. “Where is Evelina’s father?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Her father died years ago.”

“Then who was your partner today when you were splitting the payout?”

Lemira pressed him, but he bowed his head and refused to say another word.

Orion gently took Lemira’s hand. “There’s no need for you to push any further. My people will get the truth out of him. Let’s go.”

He led Lemira away.

Interrogations could get ugly, and it wasn’t something Lemira should witness.

Soon after, a strangled scream reached Lemira’s ears, but it was quickly muffled—then everything fell silent.

Orion held tightly to Lemira’s hand, noticing how cold her palm was, and reassured her, “We will find him.”

“But now the others know something’s up—the target won’t show himself so easily.”

Lemira was anxious and frustrated. She had waited so long for this day, and yet the man had slipped away again.

It was almost suffocating.

That was probably why the Sinclair family was able to buy them off.

Debby and her team loaded the man into a van and quickly drove off.

Lemira looked at Orion. “The Langston family is aware of what happened now, even Evelina—though she won’t admit it out loud.”

“Then just tell them. There’s no point in hiding it now. You might as well see how they deal with Evelina. Who knows? Maybe that two-faced girl will let something useful slip.”

“You’re right.”

Lemira turned and looked to the side.

Asher and Lucian were standing at a distance, their anxiety clear.

Lemira walked straight toward them. Lucian was the first to speak. “Lemmy, how did the questioning go? The man they took away—was he Evelina’s father?”

Lemira fixed them with a cold look. “Yes, that was Evelina’s father.”

She wanted to see the pain and heartbreak in their eyes.
