When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 723

Lemira headed straight to the restroom. As she washed her hands, she noticed Sophia had followed her in.

Lemira smiled and turned to face her. “Ms. Sinclair, what a coincidence.”

“It’s not a coincidence. I came here to find you,” Sophia replied, stepping closer. She eyed Lemira, recalling how close she’d just seen her standing with Orion.

With a tight smile, Sophia said, “Ms. Langston, I must admit, I didn’t expect you to be so impressive. Becoming head of technology and representing your company at such a young age.”

“Thank you for your kind words, Ms. Sinclair.”

Lemira clearly had no intention of lingering.

But Sophia wasn’t willing to let her go just yet. “You must know that Grandma Eileen doesn’t approve of you, and she’ll never allow you and Orion to be together. Orion has always been devoted to his grandmother—he’s never gone against her wishes.”

Lemira’s gaze grew cold. “What exactly are you trying to say, Ms. Sinclair? If you have something to say, just say it. I have things to do.”

“Ms. Langston, I’m just reminding you not to entertain impossible dreams. There’s no future for you two—unless you want to be his mistress, always kept in the shadows.”

Lemira laughed out loud at the word “mistress.”

She stared at Sophia. “Weren’t you the one who tried to be the mistress in the first place?”

Lemira stepped forward, and Sophia instinctively backed away. “Wh—what are you talking about? Orion and I grew up together—we’re childhood friends…”

“Oh, please. Childhood friends? Has Orion ever shown you the slightest interest? You’ve always known I was dating him. You must be jealous, aren’t you? After all, you never even got the chance.”

Sophia’s composure crumbled.

She snapped, “Lemira, do you really think I’d be jealous of you?”

“Of course. If you weren’t, why did you steal Orion’s phone that time and pretend you two were together? The truth is, Mrs. Eileen was in the hospital that night!”

Sophia’s expression grew uneasy. “I said we were together, but we were just at the hospital together, that’s all.”

“Yet the very next day, you claimed you were engaged and told me not to be a ‘homewrecker.’ But that so-called engagement was nothing but a rumor you and your mother spread. It never even happened.”
