When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 675

When Lemira looked at Mrs. Amelia, the woman's expression was still laced with displeasure.

Mrs. Amanda nudged Mrs. Amelia's arm and whispered, "Come on, I've set up the meeting. Talk to her properly and apologize."

Mrs. Amelia maintained her stern face. "I already apologized at the banquet. Ask her what her conditions are to withdraw the complaint with the police and settle this."

Mrs. Amelia truly hadn't expected Lemira to file a police report. Susanna was already out on bail, and getting into more trouble would be a huge problem.

Mrs. Amanda sighed, got out of the car, and pulled Lemira aside.

She spoke in a low voice, "Lemira, I heard about what happened at the banquet. It was indeed Susanna's fault. That girl has been spoiled by her family and has caused a lot of trouble over the years."

Lemira listened to Mrs. Amanda's gentle words. "Are you also asking me not to press charges?"

"If possible, I would certainly hope for a peaceful resolution. I've watched Susanna grow up, and I can't just stand by and see her get into more trouble."

Mrs. Amanda had swallowed her pride to come to Lemira. "Of course, if you're not willing, you can also state your conditions."

"Mrs. Amanda, I don't have any conditions. Let's leave this matter to the police. Besides, you saw the Sinclair family's attitude. That wasn't an apology; it was charity, and I have no need for it."

Lemira turned and walked into the Maple Group building.

Mrs. Amanda sighed and returned to the car door, looking at her best friend, Mrs. Amelia. "You see? I brought you all the way here. Why couldn't you just talk to her properly?"

"Did you see that girl's attitude? You personally asked her to settle with me, but she wouldn't even give you face. Why would she give me any?"

Mrs. Amelia's eyes suddenly reddened. She grabbed Mrs. Amanda's arm and started to cry. "You're my best friend. You watched Susanna grow up. You used to say you treated her like your own daughter since you never had one. Can you really bear to see her go to jail?"

Mrs. Amelia just couldn't swallow her pride, which was why she had asked Mrs. Amanda to come along.

Mrs. Amanda's expression grew somber. "I have my reasons for being good to Lemira. Haven't you realized who she is?"

"She's just some little slip of a girl. I have no impression of her at all."

Mrs. Amelia was confused. All she knew was that Lemira came from a minor family and was trying to social climb.

Mrs. Amanda lowered her voice. "Have you forgotten about Orion's car accident all those years ago?"

"How could I forget? Are you saying Lemira is the little girl who survived that crash?"

Mrs. Amelia gasped. She had been careless.

Lemira was from Lyria. She should have realized it sooner, but so many years had passed that she had completely forgotten about it.
