When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 657

Mrs. Waverly's question captured everyone's attention.

They had all heard that the engagement between the Everhart and Sinclair families was off because Orion had fallen for another girl and dumped Sophia.

Lemira felt uncomfortable under everyone's scrutiny.

She looked up at Orion, but his eyes were deep and unreadable; she couldn't tell what he was thinking.

Orion's gaze was fixed on her as he said calmly, "Not yet."

Hearing this, a triumphant smile spread across Mrs. Amelia's face. She knew it. How could Orion publicly acknowledge a girl from such a minor family as his girlfriend?

He was probably just infatuated with Lemira for now. In the end, he would choose a girl from a suitable family to marry and have children with.

Mrs. Amelia thought that perhaps she shouldn't have let Sophia leave the party to go to the hospital with Mrs. Amanda. It would have been good for her to witness this firsthand.

Men could be charming, but they were always clear-headed when it mattered.

Mrs. Waverly deliberately pressed, "But didn't you just call Ms. Langston your girlfriend?"

"Because I haven't won her over yet. It's just wishful thinking on my part."

The man's voice was steady and full of affection.

Lemira heard his words, feeling as if something had struck her in the chest, sending waves crashing through her calm heart.

She never expected Orion to publicly humble himself like this.

Mrs. Waverly's smile froze on her face. She was taken aback, and then she looked at Lemira, amazed that this girl had such a powerful hold over Orion, making him wrapped around her finger.

Mrs. Amelia was also smiling, but the smile didn't reach her eyes. After all, the son-in-law she had her eye on for years had suddenly been snatched away. No one would be happy about that.

Lemira nodded. "A little."

Back in Lyria, the Langston family was considered prominent, so she had attended many similar functions.

Stella held out her hand to Lemira. "Then I invite you for a dance."

Just then, Mrs. Amelia cut in, "Stella, girls don't dance with girls. You should ask your Orion to dance. You've known each other since you were children."

Mrs. Waverly quickly agreed. "Yes, yes, that's right. You were originally scheduled to dance with Mr. Langston. Why not dance with Mr. Everhart instead?"

Lemira glanced at Mrs. Amelia. She truly was a master-class schemer.

If it were anyone else in her shoes, they would surely be jealous of Stella dancing with Orion after a comment like that.
