When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 574

After she said those words, Lemira suddenly felt they sounded a bit strange.

The car was quiet, with just the two of them inside.

Lemira could feel his gaze, and her face warmed up significantly.

Orion turned his head to look at her, his eyes deepening, "It's late. You know what inviting me up means, right?"

Lemira felt the atmosphere in the car shift.

She touched her earlobe, "I was just saying it casually."

A low chuckle came from the man beside her. She turned her head to see Orion leaning closer, and her heartbeat quickened.

Lemira sat up straight, watching him approach.

Their eyes locked, and they could hear each other's breathing.

The car was dimly lit, the outside lights casting shadows that made his handsome features even more pronounced. For a moment, Lemira was a bit mesmerized.

Her heartbeat was loud in her ears. Was it so loud that he could hear it too?

There was a click as the seatbelt unfastened.

Only then did Lemira snap back to reality, realizing what he had done. Her face felt like it was on fire. Did she think he was going to kiss her?

After all, that's how it always goes in the movies and books.

Had she misunderstood?

Orion suddenly looked down at her, his gaze meeting hers.

Lemira, trying to steady her erratic heartbeat, stammered, "You..."

The next moment, he leaned down and kissed her, his breath a little rushed.

Lemira's eyes widened in surprise at his sudden move, but she soon reached up to put her arms around his shoulders.

Feeling her response, Orion deepened the kiss, his hand firmly gripping her waist.

When they finally pulled away, both were breathing heavily, Lemira's breath uneven.

Orion paused, brushing his lips against hers again before saying, "I've been holding back for a long time."

Lemira's eyelashes fluttered, her face flushed.

His gaze was intense, locking onto hers. "So, do you still want to invite me up for a while?"

"Good, good night."

Orion’s car remained parked by the curb. Seeing the lights on in the apartment's living room, he made a call to his secretary: "Schedule a meeting with Mrs. Waverly for tomorrow. We need to discuss something."

Having run into Mrs. Waverly at Bistrova earlier, he knew he needed to prepare.

He glanced up at the apartment one last time before driving away.

Lemira stood by the window, letting the night breeze wash over her, her spirits lifted like the evening air.

Her phone buzzed with several group messages.

She glanced at them; Evander was causing a stir, demanding Asher split the family assets.

Now, this was interesting.

Lemira thought for a moment, then messaged in the group, tagging Evelina: "The police will be knocking tomorrow. Make sure you replace the funds you embezzled from the foundation unless you want to end up behind bars forever!"

She knew Evelina didn't have the money.

Sure enough, the next moment, Evander angrily replied, "It's just a few thousand. I'm giving Eve a $9,900 dowry!"
