When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 564

Orion couldn't help but sigh, "What's got you down?"

"It's the whole Langston family mess," Lemira replied, clinging to him like he was her lifeline, her ear pressed against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.

Seeing her mood, Orion didn't press further. He let her hold on, offering silent support.

Eventually, Lemira calmed down and released her grip, glancing up at him with a touch of embarrassment. She reached up and playfully pinched his cheek. Even after a couple of days apart, he still looked as handsome as ever, a sight for sore eyes.

Orion took her hand, gently removing her gloves and giving her wrist a soft massage. "Don't grip so hard next time, you'll hurt your wrist."

"How did you know?"

"I watched for a while," he admitted.

After landing, Orion had immediately called Lemira, but when she didn't answer, he asked around and found out she was at the gym. He'd seen her furiously pounding the punching bag and knew something was up. Rather than interrupt, he let her work it out until she was spent.

Lemira lay back on the mat, watching as Orion used a massage gun to relax her muscles. She enjoyed the attention guilt-free.

An hour later, he set the tool aside and looked at her. "Hungry?"

"A little."

"What do you feel like eating? If you're not sure, we could head over to Bistrova."

Bistrova was Orion's favorite spot. Lemira nodded, then remembered something. "Oh, I haven't told you—our dorm got a new roommate recently."

"Right, you mentioned she had some mobility issues."

Orion suddenly paused, eyes narrowing as he looked at her. "Is she with the Waverlies?"

"You're sharp. It just so happens our new roommate is Ms. Lemira Waverly, Asher's fiancée."

At first, Lemira hadn't thought much of it. After all, there are plenty of Waverlys—Janice for one. But such was fate.

Orion looked unimpressed. "Wasn't Evelina trying to snag Dorian? Now she's after your Evander?"

"Evelina's always had a trail of admirers. She's relentless with Dorian, and handling someone like Evander is a breeze for her."

Evelina's objective was clear: marry into wealth.

"If it weren't for figuring out who's behind Evelina, I wouldn't tolerate her antics," Lemira admitted.

"Got any leads?"

Lemira nodded, spotting Debby hesitating at the entrance, laptop in hand. Blushing, Lemira stood up. "I asked Debby to meet us to discuss this."

Debby finally approached, setting her laptop on the table. "Ms. Langston, we've found a connection. The person has ties to Evelina's father; they're from the same hometown and are actually related."

Lemira's expression grew serious. "Go on."
