"You mean to tell me you did it yourself and now we can't talk about it?" Susanna found a perfect moment to tease Lemira and there was no way she was going to let it slip.
Sophia gently pulled her sister aside and spoke up, "Ms. Langston, according to the rules, the supplies you've prepared have issues, so you can't participate in this joint charity event. That's the rule."
Lemira nodded, "I understand. I'll be on my way then."
"Please take this box of sanitary pads with you. It'll serve as evidence for the investigation." Sophia made sure the expired pads were repackaged and handed them to Lemira.
Mrs. Amanda quickly interjected, "Lemira, let me arrange a ride for you. It's not easy for a young woman to carry that."
"No need, I can manage on my own." Lemira picked up the box with one hand effortlessly.
Sophia was taken aback, "Ms. Langston, you're stronger than you look."
But from today, Lemira's foundation was going to be the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons.
Mrs. Amanda couldn't help but voice her concern, "Sophia, I don't think Lemira had anything to do with this. She's not that kind of person. Isn't it a bit harsh to just send her away?"
"Mrs. Amanda, it's not that I don't want to help, but these are the rules. It wouldn't be fair to bend them just for Lemira. It would make things difficult for me in the future."
Sophia then whispered, "Mrs. Amanda, how do you know Ms. Langston? You two seem pretty close."
"Oh, Lemira and I just clicked. She helped me out during the last charity sale when I wasn't feeling well, so I can vouch for her character."
Of course, Mrs. Amanda couldn't tell Sophia everything.
Sophia still had her doubts. "Ms. Langston seems to have a good relationship with Thaddeus. I saw her visiting Orie in the hospital after that car accident."
After leaving, Lemira went straight to Asher's company. This matter needed a resolution, and she wasn't going to let it go.
Carrying the large box, she stormed into the Langston Group. This wasn't her first visit.
The receptionist, recognizing her, made no attempt to stop her and instead quickly called the secretary's office to report her arrival.
Lemira stepped out of the elevator and headed straight to Asher's office.
Asher was in the middle of a discussion when he saw her burst in, "What are you doing here causing trouble again?"
"You were the one who supported Evelina to handle the charity funds, weren't you? Well, this is what she bought!"
Lemira marched up and dumped the expired sanitary pads all over the desk.
