Lemira heard these words and grabbed a beautifully ornate vase from the table, smashing it at Evelina's feet.
Evelina stood close to Asher. "Asher, do you see this? Lemira's never satisfied with my plans, and now she's throwing things."
"Lemira, we're just a few hours away from the event. Why are you causing a scene now?"
"Causing a scene? I'm trying to fix the mess Evelina left behind."
Lemira stepped forward, grabbing Asher by the tie. "Have you lost your mind? This is a charity bake sale, not a lavish gala or luxury exhibit. If people see this, they’ll laugh at the Langston family!"
Asher then realized something was off.
Evelina quickly defended herself. "Asher, I didn't use anything too extravagant. The guests today are people of status. I thought we needed food, decor, and other things that stand out so no one disrespects the Langston family."
"Fool!"
Asher rubbed his temples, too angry for words.
Evelina flashed a smile at Lemira. "See, Asher is on my side."
"Evelina, what’s wrong with you? You’re being completely foolish!"
Asher snapped at Evelina, "Lemira's right. This is a charity bake sale, not a high-end event. Change everything back!"
Evelina's expression faltered, and she mumbled, "I was just thinking about the Langston family's reputation."
Lemira scoffed, "You're just thinking about your own vain reputation. You organized this event costing hundreds of thousands. Our sales won't even cover that. You're out of your mind!"
"Hundreds of thousands?"
Asher was even more shocked. He stared at Evelina, "Really?"
"No, no, not that much. Just about two hundred thousand. These things cost money!" Evelina stammered.
