When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 1087

Lemira thought everything was finally set in stone, but of course, Evelina had to become the ultimate wildcard.

She scowled deeply. "I'm coming over right now."

Hanging up the phone, Lemira threw her clothes on and grabbed her keys.

Stella watched her in concern. "I can have Caleb drive you."

"No need. I'll drive myself."

Lemira rushed out of the dorms and sped toward the hospital.

She never imagined a day would come where she would be racing through the city in the dead of night, genuinely stressed that Evelina might die.

It was infuriating.

Her anxiety spiked the entire drive. This sudden crisis gnawed at her, filling her with a dark, unshakeable premonition she couldn't quite name.

When she arrived, she sprinted toward the emergency wing.

All of her brothers were huddled outside the operating room.

The only one missing was Evander.

Lucian hurried over the second he saw her. "Lemmy, you're finally here."

"Are you all completely useless? You couldn't keep an eye on one person?!" Lemira snapped, completely discarding any politeness.

Lucian looked incredibly guilty. "I didn't expect Evander to snap like that. I warned him before we went in. He promised he'd keep it together, but he just... lost control."

"You should have anticipated his reaction! You never should have let him anywhere near Evelina! At least not until the trial was over!"

Lemira was boiling with rage.

Asher stepped forward, his face hard. "Why are you yelling at Lucian? He kept it a secret to ensure we'd win the trial. He and Evander are already at each other's throats over this."

"And?"
