For a moment, both of them fell silent.
In the quietness, Cordelia had been pondering over this matter.
Imogen's gaze seemed somewhat distant, and after a long while, she asked, "Is he going to propose to someone else?"
Cordelia shook her head. "If Ben prepared it for someone else, Elijah wouldn't have told me."
So the question was, what made Ben change his mind?
As Cordelia continued to think, she suddenly paused, then looked at Imogen, saying, "Do you still remember Elijah's phone call last night, Imogen? Could it be..."
Imogen's face turned pale instantly. "Ben suspects me?"
"To be precise, he suspects your pregnancy and that you're hiding something from him." Cordelia contemplated.
Imogen slumped onto the back of the sofa as if drained, then said, "Thank god, we left."
"Don't overthink it. We've had a tiring journey. Go take a shower!" Cordelia comforted her.
However, Imogen didn't move for a long time. Instead, she looked at Cordelia with sorrowful eyes and asked, "If... If I confess to him, do you think he will treat me well?"
Cordelia's expression gradually turned serious as Imogen spoke.
"Imogen, never place your hopes on someone else's kindness, especially a man like Ben. He is just emotionally unstable."
Although Ben behaved well recently, all of this was based on his desire for the baby.
What would happen after the delivery?
All he wanted was his bloodline.
As for Imogen, she had always been dispensable.
Perhaps, if it were another woman, Ben would do the same to her.
"You're good at comforting people, Cordelia." Imogen sniffled and smiled through her tears. "I feel much better."
Everything was because of the hormones in her body. It must be!
How could she, Imogen, not be able to live without a man?
She was just temporarily emotionally fragile on the inside!
Imogen didn't want to live alone in the new environment.
Later on, Cordelia couldn't resist Imogen's persuasion and ended up sleeping with her in her room.
When they were about to fall asleep, Cordelia heard Imogen mumbling, "Cordelia, I miss Ben a little. I'm so pathetic."
"It's fine. Soon, you'll forget about him." Cordelia gently patted Imogen and slowly fell asleep together with her.
