"Yeah, he brought twenty or thirty bodyguards." Cordelia stared at the book but couldn't focus herself on it at all.
"So, you surrendered?" Elijah said in a cold tone with his eyes fixed on her.
Cordelia was amused. "No, you got me wrong. No one forced me. Elijah, let's get a divorce!"
Elijah leaned back in the chair like a deflated balloon, as if he had been hanging in there before.
His eyes turned red and were filled with affection and reluctance. "Cordelia, I don't want to."
Cordelia felt distressed when hearing his tone.
She took a deep breath, tried to calm her tone, and did not look at him.
"Your grandma's wish has been fulfilled, and I can't get pregnant again. Now, I have no use for your family."
She told the truth in a calm tone.
Elijah got up, stood in front of her, and stared at her. "Cordelia, I don't want to. I don't want to divorce you."
Cordelia shook her head. "You just don't want to give in to your family. But Elijah, I didn't do anything wrong, right?"
Elijah knelt on one knee on the edge of the bed and held Cordelia's shoulder, forcing her to look at him.
The moment he looked into her eyes, and her heart skipped a beat.
She also had deep doubts at the same time.
She couldn't help but wonder if Elijah had gotten serious about their marriage.
Could it be he fell in love with her while they were acting?
"Cordelia, are you desperate to leave me?" Elijah stared at her earnestly and asked.
He was born loaded. While enjoying the wealth and glory brought to him by his family, he also had to shoulder the burdens given to him by his family. He had no choice at all.
As his sex partner, Cordelia felt there was no reason for her to take risks with him.
Elijah was stunned.
His eyes quickly dimmed like a lamp that had run out of oil with no more light.
He smiled bitterly, withdrew his arms, and sat back on the chair in frustration.
After a long while, he calmed down a lot.
He said with difficulty, "Okay."
Cordelia smiled. "I'm glad you can understand me. Elijah, I hope you can be happy every day."
