Cordelia admitted that she might be a little reluctant in some moments.
After all, her feelings for Elijah had developed over five years, from a crush to a marriage, and some habits had already been ingrained.
But she knew this wasn't the marriage she wanted, and Elijah wasn't the right man for her.
The infatuation of her youth had faded, and her initial naive thoughts had been replaced by a clearer understanding of what she wanted.
However, she couldn't deny that she still loved him. No matter how strong her self-control had become, Elijah could still stir her emotions.
"Not even a bit?" Elijah's voice sounded a bit muffled, as if he had a stuffy nose.
So, Cordelia decided to tell the truth. "There's a little bit."
Elijah suddenly sat up, looking at Cordelia in surprise. He struggled to conceal the delight and excitement in his eyes.
"Really?"
Elijah's eyes were filled with anticipation, like a child longing for candy, pure and bright.
Cordelia looked at him, feeling puzzled.
His reaction would make her misunderstand he cared about her.
Cordelia nodded.
Before she could say anything else, Elijah lowered his head and locked her lips.
He teased her leisurely, with a slight tremor in his breath.
Cordelia pushed Elijah's shoulder, finally creating a gap between them, and gasped. "Elijah, you need to be more restrained."
Elijah chuckled, "Don't worry. I won't forget."
As he spoke, he gently caressed Cordelia's belly and then put his face closer. "Babe, you have to behave. Don't make Mommy suffer."
Cordelia stared at Elijah in a daze. She suddenly felt her nose a bit sour.
"My appetite has been poor lately, and I have frequent urination. Occasionally, I even experience morning sickness. It's uncomfortable," Cordelia replied with little energy.
"How about we hang out? Do you have any cravings? I'll accompany you to get something to eat! Don't they say that pregnant women sometimes suddenly crave a specific food?" Imogen chattered away, acting like she knew it all.
"Alright. Let's hang out then."
Cordelia agreed and went upstairs to change her clothes before heading out with Imogen.
They strolled through the shopping mall and passed the baby products section, where Cordelia slowed her steps.
"Imogen, let's see if there's anything useful here," Cordelia said.
"Oh my, pregnant ladies are truly different! Sure, let's take a look, and I'll pick out some gifts for your baby," Imogen chuckled.
As she turned her head, she recognized someone in the opposite direction in the lingerie section.
"Cordelia, Elissa is over there."
