Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson) novel Chapter 2139

"In theory, it's possible, but it depends on whether Mr. Nicholls will agree," Ricky said.

Mavis stayed silent.

Nathaniel was unpredictable, and she had no way of knowing how he might react.

Nonetheless, she figured it was worth a shot when the time came.

Ricky gathered the information they had so far, compiling it into an organized file.

After a quick glance, he clicked his tongue and looked concerned.

"If Mr. Nicholls is determined to fight for custody, your chances aren't great. You haven't been involved in Mr. Callum's upbringing for the past five years, and you don't have any hands-on experience raising a child. Financially, you also can't match the Nicholls family's resources.

"Their legal team is also among the best in the industry. It's going to be a tough case, and you're at a significant disadvantage. If you can provide me with stronger evidence, especially if we can prove Mr. Nicholls is at fault for the divorce, something serious enough to affect his fitness as a parent, that would greatly help your chances of winning custody."

"Sure. I'll think about it again," Mavis replied.

Later, Mavis went to the restroom, replaying Ricky's words in her mind.

So much had happened between her and Nathaniel.

Back then, Kristen had played a huge part in ruining their marriage. However, Mavis had no solid evidence of Nathaniel's infidelity.

Five years had passed, and digging up any proof from then would have been almost impossible.

She felt helpless, not knowing what she should do next.

Mavis rested her hands on the sink and stared at her reflection in the mirror, noticing how pale she looked from the sleepless night.

The ringing of her phone brought her back to the present.

She glanced at the screen and saw a message from Evan, reading, [Mae, I saw the news about you and Nathaniel. I'm worried you'll get hurt, so I've come to Froania without telling you. I'm sorry. By the time you receive this scheduled message, I'll be on the plane, and I'll land at Svelton Airport in an hour. I'll be at Gate 11. Will you be there?]

Mavis stared at the message, completely stunned.

There was too much on her plate.

With no other choice, Mavis bit the bullet and called Nathaniel.

The phone only rang once before Nathaniel answered, and it was so fast that she had not even prepared what to say.

"What is it?" Nathaniel's voice was as cold and arrogant as always.

"Uh… I was wondering if we could push back our meeting today or maybe reschedule for another day that works better for you."

There was silence on his end for a few seconds, and Mavis could not tell if he was angry or not.

"You're not someone who changes her mind at the last minute. Have you decided you don't want a divorce after all? Is this some kind of game for you?"

"No, it's not that. I just have an urgent situation I need to handle. I'm asking for a delay of just an hour. I promise I'll be there by 3 p.m."

Nathaniel's voice remained icy as he replied, "Absolutely not. My time is valuable, and my schedule is full. I'm not going to wait around for you. If you're not there by 2 p.m., I'll treat it as if you've given up, and you'll lose your chance to negotiate."
