Sheena's gaze swept across the room, her eyes sharp and commanding.
The room was filled with uneasy glances as people exchanged confused looks.
However, Shawn lowered his head, clearly uncomfortable.
Despite his attempts to stay out of the spotlight, Sheena was not letting him off the hook.
"Shawn, since you were responsible for this proposal, why don't you give us an explanation?"
Shawn reluctantly looked up, struggling to maintain his composure.
"Ms. Lawson, I-I don't really know what happened. Maybe the timberland knew about our inspection and prepared extra just to make a good impression."
His voice wavered, and he avoided making eye contact with Sheena.
Sheena leaned forward and said sternly, "When I returned yesterday, I was stopped at the building entrance by a group of people accusing me of taking money from the timberland and promising to invest. I called this meeting to find out who was behind this."
Her gaze was icy, locked onto Shawn.
Realizing he might have been exposed, Shawn could not bring himself to look Sheena in the eye.
The others in the room quickly caught on to the situation, following Sheena's gaze and turning their attention to Shawn.
Seeing that Shawn remained silent, Sheena continued, "According to our records, our company offers competitive salaries, higher than those of our peers."
Gathering his courage, Shawn finally spoke up. "Ms. Lawson, I don't know what you're implying. What are you suggesting?"
Sheena smiled as she responded, "I heard that Fanny Holmes, your wife, is a fellow Froanian like me. There was an unexpected deposit of two million dollars in her account recently. Are you sure you don't know anything about this?"
Fanny Holmes!
The shareholders were shocked that Sheena had openly addressed the issue.
After all, they knew Sheena had a close, trusting relationship with Alice, and they thought she would at least discuss this privately so as not to embarrass Alice.
However, Sheena's message was clear: anyone who betrayed the company would face the consequences.
However, some secretly scoffed, thinking that Sheena was merely putting on a show for the shareholders.
With varying expressions in the room, the mood was tense.
Sheena's gaze softened slightly as she continued, "This situation is neither severe nor minor. I'll investigate how much money you have received, and I expect you to return it before my investigation is complete. The company will not pursue additional legal action if you comply, but if the money is not returned, be prepared to face a legal summons."
Shawn was baffled.
He jumped to his feet and shouted, "Why should I face legal repercussions? Sheena, this isn't Froania. You need to follow Deltsburg's ways when handling matters here!"
