Soon, everyone watched as the kids were scooped up by their parents—a tall and imposing man and a strikingly beautiful woman who commanded attention.
The man had the aura of a high-ranking officer, with a chiseled face and piercing eyes that made others instinctively step back.
The woman, in a fitted pencil skirt and professional attire, exuded both elegance and authority. Her long hair framed a flawlessly beautiful face. Together, the pair was a sight to behold.
Gilbert could not help but stare at Sheena.
His wife noticed and pinched his thigh hard, bringing him back to reality.
Poor Samuel, who had been trying to explain the situation, was on the verge of tears, realizing he had unintentionally summoned these influential figures.
Adora quickly spoke up, "Daddy, Mommy, it was them! They bullied Asher and said you couldn't afford to take care of us, which is why Asher is so skinny. They offered us 150,000 dollars as charity to settle things."
Adora looked very upset, clutching a damp towel she had used to wipe Asher's face.
Elliot removed his jacket and draped it over Asher to keep him warm.
Wearing a simple white shirt with rolled-up sleeves, he sat down with one leg crossed over the other.
With a smirk on his face, he was just like a predator, ready to pounce.
"You want to give us 150,000 dollars?" he asked.
The Charlton family felt the intimidating presence and started to lose their confidence.
Clara bit her lip and stomped her foot. "What, you want to bully us? 150,000 dollars is plenty for an ordinary family like yours. Don't try to scam us. We won't give a penny more!"
Elliot held up two fingers, his lips curling into a mocking smile.
"Fine. I'll give you 300,000 dollars. Asher, go ahead and splash water on them twice."
Adora could not help but giggle, thinking, 'Ha, serves them right!'
Elliot noticed that Asher hesitated, and he encouraged him with a smile.
Feeling smug, he raised his chin.
"That's because you weren't paying attention."
Samuel sighed repeatedly, bowing to Sheena in apology.
"I'm sorry for this embarrassing situation."
Sheena did not respond to Samuel but instead dialed a number.
"Check all the companies under the Lawson Group. See if there's a Gilbert Charlton. If there is, fire him immediately."
Gilbert scoffed, thinking Sheena was bluffing. "My cousin works in HR. Do you think you can fire me? At least make it believable."
To Gilbert's shock, his phone rang less than a minute later.
It was his superior informing him that he had been terminated.
