Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson) novel Chapter 1658

"Why are you so clumsy? You manage to injure yourself while out buying things?"

Nathaniel's intended concern came out as scolding.

Mavis bit her lip, and her face was pale as she mumbled, "I'm sorry, it's my fault… I'll leave now."

She turned to leave, limping, but Nathaniel grabbed her wrist, frowning.

"Are you still trying to act tough with your leg in this condition? Are you trying to play the victim?"

"I'm not," Mavis replied, attempting to free her hand, only to be met with a firmer grip.

"What's gotten into you all of a sudden?"

Nathaniel was irritated.

He had been worried about her health, but she was acting up.

Feeling pain in her wrist, Mavis gasped, fighting back tears.

"Mr. Nicholls, please let go."

Hearing the form of address in such a cold tone, Nathaniel's anger was instantly ignited.

He pulled her closer, pressing her against the car.

"Seems like you still haven't learned your lesson."

Her wrist was delicate, easily held by one hand.

Nathaniel used his other hand to forcefully tilt her chin up, forcing her to meet his gaze.

He could see her stubbornness in her gaze, and she was obviously indignant about the situation.

Nathaniel thought Mavis seemed easy to bully…

Faced with her defiance, Nathaniel could not help but act impulsively.

Once again, he pressed his lips against her pale ones.

In this position, Mavis could only lean back against the car, her body held in place.

Back at the Nicholls residence, Gabrielle saw Mavis's injury and rushed over with concern.

"What happened? How did you get hurt? Nate, how could you let Mae get injured like this?"

Nathaniel said nothing, so Mavis explained, "It's nothing, Gabrielle. A project I was working on had a minor issue. When I went to resolve it, there was a little accident. It's not a big deal, and it has nothing to do with Nate."

"Nate, you should at least make sure someone is with her. Mae is your wife, after all," Gabrielle scolded, half muttering as she took Mavis from Nathaniel, intending to help her upstairs.

She wanted to call the family doctor, but Mavis refused.

Gabrielle struggled as she lacked the experience of helping someone injured, and they slowly made their way through the living room.

Mavis endured the pain silently, heading toward the staircase.

Just as they were about to reach the stairs, Mavis suddenly found herself being carried again.

Before she could react, Nathaniel had her cradled in his arms.

"She's my wife. I'll take care of her."
