Mavis quietly returned to the Nicholls residence.
She had previously studied to be a pastry chef, and she planned to put her pastry skills to use.
The other members of the Nicholls family were nowhere to be seen.
When the servants saw her enter the kitchen, they approached her.
"Mrs. Nicholls, do you need any help?"
Mavis shook her head and replied, "It's alright. You can continue with your tasks. I want to do this myself."
As the servants left, Mavis began to work.
She closed the kitchen door behind her, making the place her little sanctuary as she meticulously followed each step.
After three hours of preparation, the oven beeped, signaling that the mini cakes were done.
The aroma of the freshly baked cakes filled the entire kitchen.
Satisfied with the perfectly colored treats, Mavis carefully placed them in exquisite boxes and packed the other prepared food items in a bag.
She had prepared cakes, stuffed mushrooms, and some other snacks for the bonfire party, hoping they would appeal to everyone's taste.
When Mavis left the kitchen, she suddenly noticed Nathaniel's silhouette.
She was surprised, wondering when he had returned or how long he had been standing outside the kitchen.
Taking the initiative, she offered him the unpacked mini cake, eagerly saying, "It's freshly baked. Try it and let me know how it tastes."
If Nathaniel liked it, chances were the others would too.
Mavis already scooped a small piece of cake, bringing it close to his mouth.
Nathaniel took a bite and commented, "Hmm, not bad."
Receiving his fair assessment, Mavis smiled.
"Then Sheena and the two little ones will surely like them too."
Although Sheena had mentioned that Asher and Adora were elsewhere, Mavis still made some treats for the two children.
Seeing that she had brought desserts as gifts, Sheena chuckled.
"Because Asher and Adora's teeth aren't in the best condition, we have a no-sugar rule at home. But I love sweets. Every time, I sneak a little. What girl doesn't like desserts?"
The two giggled.
As they walked toward the mansion, Sheena tasted the desserts and teased Nathaniel, "I'm so jealous! Nathaniel gets to eat such delicious cakes every day. If I were a man, I'd definitely marry Mae."
At her words, Elliot frowned.
Did his cooking skills worsen?
"Nana, it looks like I'll have to watch out not just for men, but for women too."
Sheena stifled a laugh, immediately going over to hold his hand, playfully saying, "Don't worry, even if I had a chance to marry Mae, you'd still be the main wife."
Elliot booped her nose, feeling both annoyed and unable to retort.
Even so, his eyes were full of affection as he gazed at her.
