Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson) novel Chapter 1644

As soon as the elevator doors opened on the fifteenth floor, Mavis practically bolted out, hoping to escape.

To her shock, Nathaniel followed her.

Mavis' anxiety spiked.

The rumors involving Mavis and Tommy had already given her enough headaches.

If the company started gossiping about her and Nathaniel, she would lose it.

She quickened her pace, trying to put as much distance as possible between them.

The logistics department was suddenly abuzz.

Those slacking off quickly pretended to work diligently, fearing Nathaniel's scrutiny.

Even Diana, who usually seized any chance to catch Nathaniel's eye, dared not approach him directly after her previous blunder.

Nathaniel merely walked to Mavis's desk, stood there for two minutes, and left.

The entire department was left bewildered.

Was Nathaniel just there for an inspection?

Did he really leave without giving them tasks or anything?

Once he was gone, the office erupted into whispers.

Some employees began comparing themselves, trying to figure out who had caught Nathaniel's attention.

"I think Mr. Nicholls looked at me just now. Must be because I nailed my makeup today," one boasted.

Her comment immediately drew mockery from others.

"Yeah, right. He probably just glanced your way. If Mr. Nicholls showed up suddenly, it's likely because of her," someone said, nodding toward Mavis, who was busy working at her desk.

Diana jumped into the conversation, her disdain evident.

"Who does she think she is? As if Mr. Nicholls would even spare a glance at her. If she hadn't messed things up, our workload wouldn't have doubled overnight."

Diana had spent the entire afternoon running around to buy the necessary large equipment parts, and her legs felt like they were about to give out.

She noticed that Nathaniel's gaze lingered on Mavis for a few moments during his visit, even though he quickly looked away.

"Get in," Nathaniel ordered, his tone leaving no room for refusal.

Mavis complied.

The car quickly drove off, the sound of the wind rushing by.

Mavis had no idea where he was taking her.

Perhaps it was the exhaustion from the day, but soon after the car started moving, she fell asleep against the seat, her breathing steady.

Nathaniel noticed that she was asleep and rolled up all the windows.

He was not quite sure why he had not gone into the Nicholls residence. Maybe it was because she had not returned yet?

He did not know. He just felt an emptiness without seeing her.

Lately, Mavis had been staying up late, sleeping on the couch.

He had grown accustomed to her presence, and Nathaniel felt a bit lost with her sudden absence.
