Such a problem would not happen if Sheena were in the lab.
Keaton noticed the change in Elliot's expression and continued, "Don't bother trying. Do you think the lab's security is flawless? The truth is, I've had an insider planted in the lab long ago. The entire lab's equipment, including your wife and kids, is under my control. Are you going to kill me now?"
Keaton laughed arrogantly while Elliot silently continued dialing the phone.
He tried calling Sheena multiple times, but each attempt went unanswered.
If Sheena and the kids were really in Keaton's hands…
Elliot put away his phone and pressed the gun against Keaton's head forcefully, demanding, "What do you want?"
"Release my people, and you come with me."
Just then, Lance, having dealt with the situation at the cabin, arrived in the rain with a group of people.
Hearing Keaton's words, Lance quickly intervened, "Mr. Jenkins, don't!"
After all, Keaton was cunning, a complete lunatic; no one could tell what mind game he was playing.
Keaton paid no mind.
Instead, he taunted Elliot, smiling, "Elliot, the choice is yours. Is your family's survival more important, or is yours? You have one minute to think about it."
He held all the cards.
Despite appearing overpowered in the muddy rain, Keaton orchestrated the situation with mastery.
After a long pause, Elliot reluctantly lowered his gun, instructing Lance, "Protect Mrs. Snyder. Release his people but maintain your position in the mountains."
Lance was taken aback, shouting, "Mr. Jenkins!"
"Do as I say," Elliot commanded.
His gaze was unreadable, and his demeanor was cold, leaving Lance puzzled about his intentions.
Following his superior's orders was paramount, so Lance reluctantly released the captured individuals.
Infuriated by Elliot's calm demeanor, Keaton grabbed his collar, his voice icy.
"Elliot, do you know how much I hate you? If it weren't for you, Renee wouldn't be dead. While you live happily with your family, I have to live in misery! Because of you, I have to hide in darkness and never see Renee again! It's simply unfair! You don't deserve such a life!"
Elliot met his gaze, unmoved and silent.
He knew Keaton would not listen to anything he said, and he did not feel the need to defend himself.
However, Seeing Elliot's lack of reaction only fueled Keaton's anger.
"Elliot, I'll make you suffer a thousand times over for the pain you've caused me! I'll take you to Renee's grave and make you repent!"
Elliot understood that Keaton would not harm him physically, but he had not expected Keaton to do so much just to take him to Renee's grave.
As the rain gradually stopped, the armored vehicle stopped at the cemetery.
Keaton limped his way into the graveyard until he reached an unmarked grave.
