Asher nodded. "Mommy, I will. It's just a little hard to breathe."
Hearing this, everyone in the room became anxious.
Yosef quickly hooked Asher to various monitors and carefully checked his vital signs.
Sheena's heart was in her throat.
Elliot pulled her into his arms, softly reassuring her, "Don't worry, he'll be okay."
After a thorough examination, Yosef finally exhaled in relief, smiling.
"All his vital signs are stable, just like before. He overexerted himself with that fall, which is why he looked a bit weak. He just needs some rest, and he'll be fine."
Everyone sighed in relief.
Adora gently touched Asher's leg, feeling guilty.
She whispered, "Asher, does it hurt? How about I tell you a story tonight?"
Asher raised an eyebrow.
"Another Snow White story? I prefer something like 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf'."
Despite his pale face, he had enough energy to joke, showing he was in good spirits.
Sheena relaxed a bit.
Elliot's phone buzzed with a message from Lance.
Sheena noticed the change in his expression.
Their eyes met momentarily before Elliot quietly left the room to read the message.
[Lance: Mr. Jenkins, there's a new update. Mrs. Snyder's house was searched. We people believe they know we took her.]
Those men were watching Nancy, and she would likely be killed if they released her now.
Yet, keeping her detained would stall their investigation.
If the mastermind were indeed Keaton, he would kill Nancy.
Elliot replied, "I plan to have Lance secretly escort her back, but I'll go along too. That way, if anything happens, I can respond immediately."
Given what he knew about Keaton, only he had a chance of catching the man.
After everything that had happened, Sheena knew Keaton was a madman—a complete lunatic who did not consider the consequences of his actions.
Coupled with his hatred for Elliot, any encounter between them would be dangerous.
However, she also understood they had no choice.
As long as Keaton was on the loose, their family would never be safe.
Seeing the worry in her eyes, Elliot pulled her into his arms, comforting her, "Don't worry, Honey. I'll be extra careful. I won't let anything happen that would cause you or the kids to worry."
Sheena lightly punched him, gently warning, "Come back safely, or I'll never forgive you."
After a few moments of tender reassurance at the end of the hallway, Elliot left.
