Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson) novel Chapter 1580

Just as Elliot was about to turn the next corner and enter the room, he caught a glimpse of a shadow darting ahead.

The figure moved swiftly, indicating they were skilled.

"Who's there?"

At this hour, the lab should only have a few gentle, mild-mannered researchers on duty.

The security patrolling the entrance would not be sprinting around without reason.

Only the sound of a strong gust of wind responded.

Elliot quickly ran to the end of the corridor.

Below the window, the trees cast shadows on the white walls of the corridor, illuminated by the streetlights outside.

The shadows swayed occasionally, but no one was there, not even a stray cat.

Feeling suspicious, he checked the area around the window again.

Had he been mistaken?

This lab was a secure facility for Svelton military pharmaceuticals, and patrolling security constantly checked the inside and out of the place.

Even a butterfly entering the premises would be caught clearly on surveillance, let alone a suspicious person…

Maybe he had been mistaken.

His recent poor sleep and the constant busyness of his days could have affected him.

Elliot dismissed the thought and returned to the room.

As he walked away, a masked man slipped quietly in the opposite direction.

The red light on the security camera only resumed its surveillance after the man had completely left the area.

Elliot did not dwell on the brief encounter in the corridor.

He gently opened the door to the room.

The room was dark, illuminated only by the faint moonlight filtering through the window.

He moved quietly to the bed and sat down.

Listening to the soft, rhythmic breathing of his two little ones, he knew they were fast asleep.

Before long, he fell asleep.

When Elliot woke up, he found a white lady's coat draped over his shoulders.

There were no signs of Asher and Adora on the bed, nor was Sheena present.

The room was eerily empty, with only him in it.

A sense of unease washed over him almost instantly, and he hurriedly got up to search for his wife and children.

However, as soon as he tried to stand, his legs felt numb.

As he rose, shooting pains stabbed through his legs, causing him to collapse onto the floor.

He narrowly avoided a clumsy fall, supporting himself with one hand and right knee on the ground.

Just then, the door opened, and Sheena entered carrying a breakfast tray.

She shook her head in amusement and joked, "Mr. Jenkins, what's with the grand display at such an early morning? It's surprising."

Elliot was speechless.
