Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson) novel Chapter 1569

"Well… alright then. Make sure you take care of Mae. She's the patient, so you have to be understanding," Gabrielle insisted, still concerned.

Nathaniel was getting a little impatient and nodded silently, restraining himself from saying anything.

Gabrielle left with reluctance, casting several glances back at Nathaniel, clearly still doubtful of him.

Noticing this, Nathaniel pulled Mavis closer, wrapping his arm around her shoulder protectively.

Then, he faced Mavis's skepticism and smiled gently, radiating warmth.

Only after Gabrielle's figure disappeared from the hospital lobby did Nathaniel release his grip on Mavis's shoulder and step into the elevator.

"Did you register? Are you going to the outpatient department? Which floor?"

His questions were straight to the point, and his voice was devoid of emotion.

Mavis was stunned, taking some time to recover.

She followed him into the elevator and replied, "Yes, I've registered with a specialist. Third floor."

Nathaniel pressed the button for the third floor without another word.

Standing awkwardly in the confined, quiet space, Mavis did not know where to look.

Though they had only been apart for ten days, it felt like she had not seen Nathaniel in ages.

She began to wonder if something had happened to him.

"When you had severe gastric and went to the hospital, I was working overtime at the office. I'm sorry," Nathaniel apologized.

"Hmm?" Mavis looked up, realizing that Nathaniel had apologized for the previous incident.

"It's okay, you don't have to feel guilty about it," she reassured him.

In the past, she would have dealt with being sick alone, but now she had Gabrielle's company and Marius to help with emergency calls.

That was enough.

Nathaniel clenched his hand in his pocket, feeling a twinge of guilt.

Gabrielle had called to inform him about Mavis's severe gastric symptoms while he was driving to find Sheena that day.

Every person passing by Nathaniel and Mavis would pause and take a second glance.

Not only that, but there were also quite a few murmurs around them, especially about Nathaniel.

Feeling embarrassed, Mavis whispered, "We're still keeping our marriage a secret. If people recognize you accompanying me to the hospital, it might end up in tomorrow's news, right?"

Nathaniel nodded gently in agreement, acknowledging that it could indeed occur.

Mavis suggested, "Maybe… we should forget about it. My stomach issues are nothing new, and I can manage on my own. I don't want to interfere with your work."

Nathaniel simply grunted in response.

Disappointed by his immediate agreement, Mavis continued walking.

Coincidentally, her name was called in the waiting area for a specialist consultation.

Politely, she said, "Thank you for accompanying me. Don't worry, I won't mention anything to Gabrielle."

With that, she entered the consultation room without looking back.
