Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson) novel Chapter 1564

"Mrs. Snyder must've heard the gunshot from the cabin too. I need to check on her," Sheena said.

She picked up the basket full of vegetables and skillfully made her way out of the field.

Elliot watched her go, sighing deeply.

He rubbed his throat, which still hurt a little from her bite.

Did she really not remember, or was she pretending?

Even if she had truly forgotten, her actions spoke otherwise.

Still, how could she remain so calm being pinned down by a stranger in the field?

Shaking off his thoughts, Elliot quickly got up to follow Sheena.

Lionel was tracking the shooter, and Elliot trusted him to handle it.

His priority was ensuring Sheena's safety and not losing her again.

They returned to the cabin one after the other.

Nancy was in the yard, pacing anxiously.

When she saw Sheena, she rushed over and grabbed her hand.

"What happened? I heard the gunshot. Are you hurt?"

Sheena shook her head.

"We're fine. What about you, Mrs. Snyder? Did you see anyone suspicious?"

"I'm fine too. I was just feeding the chickens in the backyard. There aren't many people living near the mountain anymore. Most have moved to the city. It's unlikely anyone suspicious would be around here."

Sheena glanced around, her expression calm.

"That's good to hear."

Elliot, who had been watching, stepped forward and motioned for Sheena and Nancy to enter.

Once they were in, he closed the door behind them.

The room instantly plunged into darkness.

Nancy was startled and quickly turned on a light.

She ran to the door, banging on it and shouting at Elliot, who was just outside.

Sheena noticed and asked with a smile, "It's safer inside, yet you seem more nervous, Mrs. Snyder."

"Am I? N-No… I'm just a little worried about them," Nancy replied, smiling gently despite her anxiety.

In her forties, she had a kind face when she smiled.

Sheena moved closer, sitting beside her, and spoke softly, "I'm truly grateful to you, Mrs. Snyder. If it weren't for you, I might not be alive today."

Nancy took Sheena's hand and patted it reassuringly.

"You're too kind. I've been lonely for years, and since you arrived, my days have been much happier."

Sheena smiled.

"But," Nancy continued, "I can tell you come from a well-off family from your manners and those gentlemen. You have a home to return to. Staying here in this small place isn't a solution."

She paused, thinking carefully, and then continued earnestly, "Over the past few days, I could tell that Mr. Jenkins and Mr. Nicholls genuinely care about you. You'll have to choose one. If you have a family, you need to return to them."

Sheena did not respond immediately.

Instead, she stared at Nancy for a while.

It almost sounded like Nancy wanted her and the three men to leave soon.
