Lance stood to the side, ready to take detailed notes of her confession.
The woman was trembling all over as she propped herself up, enduring the pain.
Her lips quivered as she began to speak.
"My real name is Priscilla Burton. Sheena knows me because I was a patient at Mr. Noah's hospital. I come from a poor family and have such a miserable life that I once considered jumping from the hospital roof to end it all. I met Sheena by chance, and she saved me. She pitied my situation, encouraged me to seek treatment, and even paid for my medical bills. That's how we got to know each other…"
Elliot listened quietly, his brows gradually furrowing.
"It's you."
Elliot was aware of the matter, which happened two years ago.
Sheena had told him about it, and she had been particularly kind to Priscilla because her situation reminded Sheena of her own mother's tragic story.
Sophia was so upset by Albert's affair and Sheila's existence that she was admitted to the hospital.
She even lost her life there.
Sheena learned about Priscilla's plight—how her husband brought his mistress into their home and even threatened Priscilla after she fell sick due to the matter.
He threatened Priscilla that he would sign a waiver refusing life-saving treatment if her condition became critical as leverage for divorce.
Hence, Sheena stepped in to help.
Sheena found evidence of Priscilla's husband's wrongdoing, sent him and his mistress to jail, and arranged for a lawyer to ensure Priscilla got the house and car in the divorce.
Priscilla shuddered as she recounted her story, then continued, "They also locked me up, showing me videos of Sheena's interviews and news. They made sure I mimicked her expressions and learned her way of speaking. I had to memorize everything about her. If I didn't comply, they would beat me mercilessly. But if I did well, they would be pleased and deposit money into my mom's account right before me. If I followed their orders, I wouldn't get beaten, and I'd have money and not worry about basic necessities. To survive, I had no other choice."
She started sobbing, lacking even the strength to wipe away her tears.
Lance and the others had injected her with something earlier.
They even jabbed needles into specific points on her back, causing unbearable pain that felt like her bones were breaking.
Priscilla took some time steadying herself before carefully looking up.
She braced the intense pressure of Elliot's gaze and continued, "Eight days ago, they learned about Sheena's schedule and arranged for me to wait by the bridge to block her. I was fully disguised with a mask, hat, and wig. But Sheena recognized my voice when she heard it, and I even showed her our chat history, hoping she would give me a ride. She agreed."
