Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson) novel Chapter 1488

Mavis stared at the closed bedroom door, feeling empty inside.

She continued to spread the blanket on the couch as she decided not to sleep in Nathaniel's bed.

After all, the things that were not meant to be hers would not be hers, no matter how hard she tried,

Nathaniel went to his study to work and ended up sleeping there.

Meanwhile, Mavis spent the night curled up on the couch in the bedroom.

The following day, Mavis finished getting ready and walked out of the bedroom, only to run into Nathaniel coming down the stairs from his study upstairs.

She paused, calling out to him softly, "Good morning, Mr. Nicholls."

Nathaniel was still aloof as he walked down the stairs and approached her.

He touched her neck, where the faint red mark from last night's grip was still visible.

"Why didn't you apply some medicine before bed last night? Do you plan to go downstairs like this and let Gabrielle and Marius see the marks on your body?"

Mavis was taken aback by his icy tone, and she quickly covered her neck.

"I'm sorry, I forgot. I-I'll wear a scarf to work today."

However, the first aid kit was not in the room but in the cabinet downstairs.

If she had gone to get it last night, the servants would have noticed, and it would have been hard to explain the mark on his neck.

Nonetheless, Mavis did not intend to tell Nathaniel about that.

She knew he would not believe her even if she did, so she just apologized.

As Mavis turned to go back to the room, Nathaniel grabbed her arm.

He leaned close to her ear, his lips brushing against it, and whispered, "Besides in private, you're not allowed to call me Mr. Nicholls at the Nicholls residence. You have to call me 'honey'."

Mavis felt a little conflicted.

First, he was nowhere as sweet as honey.

Secondly, their relationship was not real.

Mavis could not bring herself to say it, but she still agreed, "Got it."

Nathaniel did not let go of her arm.

His eyes sparkled with mischief as he said, "Now, say it."

"Honey, I'm going to be late for work. Please let me go."

Her gentle voice was quite pleasant to hear.

Nathaniel instantly felt much better and released her arm, generously allowing her to return to her room.

He watched her retreat like she was fleeing, and he could not shake the echo of her calling him 'honey'.

Hearing a girl say it so softly and tenderly was quite intoxicating.

After breakfast, Nathaniel left the mansion first to drive to work.

Mavis remained in the dining room, intending to eat slowly to avoid leaving at the same time as Nathaniel.

Unexpectedly, Gabrielle asked, "Mae, Nate's already left. Aren't you two supposed to leave together?"

Unable to pretend she did not see Nathaniel leave, Mavis reluctantly set down her spoon and followed suit.

Nathaniel walked much faster than her.

By the time she leisurely made her way to the outdoor parking lot at the Nicholls residence, Nathaniel's car had already sped away from the roadside, leaving her there awkwardly without waiting for her to get in.

Mavis could not help but feel a little embarrassed as she stood there.
