Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson) novel Chapter 1479

Mavis clenched her fists, her already foul mood worsening.

She tried to hold back but finally snapped.

"Nathaniel, do you think I'm that terrible? No matter what I do, you always find a way to put me down, making me feel worthless. If you think I'm so far beneath you, why did you marry me in the first place? You should have gone for someone like Cassie, a rich heiress."

Nathaniel looked at her, bewildered.

"What's gotten into you? If you're having a bad day at work, why are you taking it out on me?"

After a moment, he added, "Did you just call me by my first name? You've got some nerve."

He reached over and pinched her cheek, using enough force to make it sting.

It hurt.

Mavis's anger intensified.

She slapped his hand away, her eyes red and brimming with tears.

"Nathaniel, you take advantage of my feelings for you to bully me. Yes, I like you now, so I put up with it. But if the day comes when I don't like you anymore, I won't let you treat me like this."

Nathaniel frowned, noticing her wronged expression and feeling puzzled.

They stared at each other for a long moment before he asked, "What's wrong with you? Why are you so upset over a joke? How is this bullying?"

Mavis's mood only worsened, and she pointed to her cheek.

"You pinched my face. It's red now, and you say that's not bullying?"

Even though their marriage was a contractual one, Mavis thought he should avoid other women out of respect.

She could not help but believe the only reason he had been coming to the company lately was to see his mistress. Moreover, he was probably only driving her home because he was already there, so he might as well.

Overwhelmed with frustration, Mavis lowered her gaze, biting her lip as she tried to process what she had just seen outside the car.

Nathaniel had no idea what she was thinking.

However, he noticed the red mark where he had pinched her.

The slight flush, combined with her angry expression, was actually kind of cute.

He raised an eyebrow, feeling mischievous.

"There's no mirror in here. How do you know your cheek is red? Maybe you're just blushing because you're mad."

"Because you pinched me, and it hurts," Mavis retorted angrily, turning her face away to wipe her eyes quickly.

Her grip was stronger than he expected, and the pinch left his cheek stinging and numb.

Did she really have to be so rough?

"Did you have to pinch that hard?" Nathaniel growled, clearly annoyed.

Mavis decided she had done enough and let go.

She saw the deep red mark blooming on his face and felt a small surge of satisfaction.

"Didn't you say I could pinch you? Were you going to limit how hard I could pinch? Besides, I didn't pinch that hard. You promised not to take revenge."

He had indeed said that.

Despite the pain radiating from his cheek, Nathaniel restrained himself from retaliating and asked, "Now, can you tell me why you're upset? Did someone at work bother you?"

Mavis shook her head.

She did not want to be a tattletale, nor did she want to bother him with such things and then get lectured again.

"No one at work bothered me, and I'm not upset."
