Nathaniel sensed it and turned around, glaring at Tommy.
Tommy quickly wiped the smile off his face, hastily explaining, "I just remembered a funny joke I saw just now and couldn't help but laugh."
Nathaniel raised an eyebrow, his blue eyes twinkling as he teased, "What joke? Show it to me."
Tommy hesitated, thrown off guard by Nathaniel's unexpected request.
"Uh, it was just a random video I stumbled upon on an app. I didn't like or save it, so I probably can't find it again…"
Nathaniel casually continued, "Then you can tell me yourself."
Placed in a tough spot, Tommy whispered in resignation, "Mr. Nicholls…"
"If you can't tell it, I'll deduct it from your salary. That seems fair."
Tommy thought it was not fair at all!
His mind raced as he recalled a corny joke he had heard before.
"It's an animation about two banana brothers out for a stroll. The older one, with longer legs, walks ahead and suddenly feels hot, so he takes off his peel. And then, Mr. Nicholls, guess what happened…"
Tommy animatedly recounted the joke, gesturing and laughing as he spoke.
"The younger banana brother slips on the peel, and the voiceover, it's just hilarious, haha…"
He held onto the elevator railing, doubled over with laughter, clutching his stomach.
"Isn't it funny? Really hilarious, right?"
Nathaniel stared at him expressionlessly, his gaze icy cold.
The chill in his gaze sent shivers down Tommy's spine.
Tommy's smile quickly faded, and his expression turned serious as he respectfully lowered his head.
"Yeah. It's not funny at all…"
Seeing Tommy surrender, Nathaniel felt a sense of satisfaction.
His expression softened slightly.
"It's indeed not funny at all. From now on, refrain from indulging in such useless humor."
"Yes, of course. I won't watch them again."
As they chatted, the elevator reached the fifteenth floor.
The employees on the entire floor had no idea Nathaniel was coming.
When they suddenly saw him, the whole floor erupted into screams.
She overheard her colleagues mentioning something about… Mr. Nicholls?
She raised her head and saw Nathaniel, impeccably dressed and exuding dominance, being escorted over by Tommy.
His demeanor suggested he was here for an inspection.
She was stunned.
It was a busy day at work for her, buried under piles of documents and data she had to handle for the first time.
Hence, she had not had a chance to learn who the company's CEO was.
Could it be… Nathaniel?
Mavis's heart raced as she quickly crouched, hiding her face behind her computer screen, trying to avoid Nathaniel's gaze.
She was in shock.
"Isn't this the NC Group? Why is it Mr. Nicholls's company?"
The colleague beside her whispered, "Are you clueless? The NC Group is the Nicholls' largest shareholder group. Normally, we just refer to it as the Nicholls Group."
"But… I read online that the founder of the company isn't him!"
