Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson) novel Chapter 1402

Mavis lowered her gaze, momentarily speechless.

While Nathaniel had said they would keep the marriage secret from the public, she had not expected him to keep it from his own family.

"Ms. Olsen?" Seymour prompted.

Mavis snapped back to attention. "Oh, nothing. Thank you for your help."

"It's my pleasure," Seymour replied.

Guiding her into the mansion, Seymour began to introduce her as they walked.

"Besides Mr. Nicholls, there are two other main residents in this house, Mr. Marius and Ms. Gabrielle. Though engaged for years, Ms. Phoebe doesn't reside here. The top floor is where the deceased Old Man Nicholls and Madam Nicholls lived. It's filled with antiques and off-limits."

He gave her some time to remember his words, then continued, "The front yard has a rock garden concept, while the backyard boasts an outdoor pool, a climbing roses garden, and a swing, all belonging to Ms. Gabrielle. It's best not to trespass. The basement and the card room are on the ground floor, and the third floor houses the gym and the guest tea room…"

The Nicholls residence was massive, resembling more of a grand estate than a mere mansion.

Mavis listened quietly, gradually losing interest.

There were so many places she could not go that she was convinced she was there as Nathaniel's personal servant.

Seymour noticed her gloomy expression and thought she was feeling out of place.

He tried to reassure her, "Don't worry. Mr. Marius and Ms. Gabrielle are kind, never making things difficult for the staff. They're easy to get along with. Since Mr. Nicholls carried you back here last night, I believe you have a special spot in his heart."

Special?

Mavis could not help but laugh at her fate.

As his private servant with the status of his legal wife, her identity was indeed special.

Gabrielle leaned in close and whispered, "Are you really just Nate's servant? But he hasn't been close to any woman in the past few years since he returned from abroad. Why do I think there is a secret between you and Nate? Tell me. I'll never expose you, and I'll help you keep this secret."

Mavis was stunned and quickly replied, "I'm really just Mr. Nicholls's servant."

"Ugh, how boring!" Gabrielle pouted, feeling somewhat disappointed.

Mavis lowered her head even further, fearing Gabrielle might see through her.

Nonetheless, Gabrielle's curiosity was fleeting.

She quickly turned to Seymour and asked, "Uncle Seymour, if Nate can hire a personal servant, maybe I'll pick one for my room. Someone to give me massages and play games with me every day. That would be nice, don't you think?"

Seymour was startled by her unexpected remark. "Miss, don't act so rashly! You're not engaged yet. If word got out about having a manservant in your room, it wouldn't reflect well on your reputation. What if the other wealthy young men got the wrong idea?"

"That's not fair! Nate isn't engaged either. Why can he have a servant in his room, but I can't? He's the head of the family, and he doesn't care about his reputation. Why should I worry?" Gabrielle protested.
