"Uncle Nate, I miss you so much!" Adora pouted and cooed in a playful manner.
Nathaniel held back his laugh, his blue eyes gleaming with affection.
"It's only been a few hours, and you already miss me?"
"Yes!" Adora exclaimed, gesturing with her little hands. "I miss you so much! Don't you miss me?"
Nathaniel lowered his head and lightly rubbed his nose against hers.
His voice was calm and tender as he replied, "Of course I do. I wish I could take you home and see you every day, never to be apart."
Adora wrapped her arms around his neck and planted a kiss on his handsome face, not hiding her fondness for him at all.
Just as Sheena and Elliot emerged from the mansion with Asher, they witnessed the heartwarming scene of the two laughing and playing together.
With his hands in his pockets, Asher had a cold and unfriendly expression.
Nathaniel quickly composed himself and greeted them, "Good morning. Adora and I are planning to visit the aquarium this morning. Asher, would you like to join us?"
Sheena and Elliot glanced at Asher, who snorted arrogantly and pursed his lips.
"No, I'm not interested in those childish things. Daddy, Mommy, let's go. It's time for my treatment at the lab."
With that, he strode ahead, leaving the front garden of E&S Haven, with Sheena and Elliot following in his footsteps.
Nathaniel sighed inwardly, realizing he had to play the long game and slowly ease Asher's resentment toward him.
…
Throughout the morning, Nathaniel and Adora had a delightful time at the aquarium.
Over the years, Adora's favorite dolphin had grown, and it seemed to recognize her as its owner.
Nathaniel could not help but recall the last time he saw her, and it was also when he brought Adora to the aquarium.
That day, Mavis had approached him on her own and said, "Mr. Nicholls, I may not be able to continue working in Froania. I'm 27 this year, and I still haven't found a partner. My family is pressuring me, and I'm afraid… I'll have to go back for the blind dates they arranged for me."
At that time, Nathaniel smiled and replied, "It's always good to be back home. Find someone, get married, and live a good life. But when you're on a blind date, keep your eyes open and beware of low-quality men who might ruin your life."
Mavis chuckled. "There aren't many good men like you in the world…"
"I'm not a good man, but if I had a daughter as sweet and lovely as Adora, I would strive to be a good father."
Nathaniel continued, lost in thought, "I wish you success with your blind dates. I have one coming up in a few days, too. It's about time I settled down."
Mavis visibly paled. "Mr. Nicholls, you're… going on a blind date? With whom?"
"The Reynolds family's heiress, Cassie Reynolds."
