"I thought you didn't want to try it." Hera was slightly perplexed.
"I've changed my mind," Bernard answered. With that, he looked at Thiago with a challenging glint in his eyes before swallowing the slice of hummingbird cake.
Then, he snatched another slice from Hera, who had just taken one bite and put it on his plate. That left Thiago shocked.
Hera had no choice but to silently reach for the last slice on the plate. However, Bernard took the entire plate away from her.
Hera exclaimed, "Bernard! Could you stop fooling around?"
"You should eat your pasta." Bernard pushed the plate of pasta toward her. "His mother made this for his future wife, but you won't be marrying him.
"You shouldn't steal other people's food. I've already asked someone to ship some hummingbird cake via plane from the South. You'll be able to have some by noontime."
Hera said nothing. Bernard was such a jealous man, and there seemed like no end to his antics.
"Then, why did you eat those slices earlier?" Hera retorted. "Are you going to become his wife? Or are you stealing food?"
Bernard was rendered speechless by her words.
Thiago exclaimed in shock, "I don't want to marry him!" He then furiously continued his rant toward Bernard.
"Don't assume that this makes you a member of the Mayall family. Besides, I don't like men, so I'll never marry you! Don't overthink things! Quickly give me back the hummingbird cake! My mom made that for Hera!"
While speaking, Thiago attempted to snatch the plate from Bernard, who refused to give it to him. Instead, he turned to hand the remaining hummingbird cake to Tiramisu.
"Tiramisu, this is for you."
Tiramisu trotted over curiously. After smelling the cake, it turned away and left in disgust.
"Look, even the pig is not interested in this crap. That means your cake sucks," Bernard remarked icily.
Hera took all of them without hesitation. "Thank you."
"You're welcome. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have made an extra 100 million dollars. By the way, I'm planning to enter the market on the northern side of the country. In the future, I'll supply all the medicinal herbs that your clinic needs," Thiago said.
"No problem. Have you collected the payment for the goods?" Hera asked.
Thiago knew she was referring to the payment Everly had to make for the herbs. "No. She only paid a deposit of ten million dollars. She still has not paid the remaining.
"The contract states that she has to pay everything in three installments within a month. Today is the due date for the first installment," he explained.
Without waiting for Hera to speak, he cheekily continued, "Don't worry. Everly will pay up."
Hera looked at Thiago. One shouldn't be fooled by his cheekiness and cheerful appearance. Although he seemed naïve and clueless, it was all a facade. He was part of the mafia in the southern side of the country.
