Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 406

Linton went silent.

So did Liliana.

The doctor, unaware that she had just stumbled onto a landmine, had touched Linton's deepest pain.

Her words were meant to be kind.

But that small comfort was enough to make Linton's tall frame freeze, and then slump even further.

The man covered his face with his large, rough hands, his shoulders shaking violently as he began to cry with even more heartbreaking sorrow, a broken, choked sob escaping his throat.

The doctor was speechless.

She stared, wide-eyed and utterly bewildered.

Wait a minute.

Did she just completely shatter this guy's composure?

She was pretty sure she hadn't said anything out of line…

Liliana lowered her lashes and explained in a calm, quiet voice.

"Doctor, you're mistaken. We're not married."

The doctor paused, a look of surprise on her face.

Liliana pointed a finger at Linton, her expression impassive. A strange, unreadable smile slowly formed on her lips as she continued.

"This man is someone I've discarded. You're thinking too much. We won't be spending our lives together."

"The baby is mine, and mine alone. He has no part in this."

As Liliana finished speaking, Linton's shoulders jolted violently.

He covered his tear-streaked face with his hands, letting out a muffled, agonized groan.

It was the sound of utter despair and collapse, and it was quite pitiful.

The doctor was speechless.

After a few seconds of silence, she quickly adapted, unfazed. It was, after all, not the strangest thing she'd seen.
