Kieran watched as Lila pulled out her phone, already getting ready to message Noah.
Unhappy with that, he smoothly took the phone from her hand and pulled her onto his lap.
"It's already late. Can you stop worrying about other people and focus on me for a bit, Mrs. Morgan?"
Lila met his gaze. His deep eyes held a familiar intensity. The moment she settled onto his lap, she could already feel the slight shift in his body.
The phrase "once you get a taste, you can't stop" fit Kieran perfectly.
He carried her back to the bedroom.
Since her shoulder was still injured, he didn't push her too hard, and did all the work himself. Even so, by the end of it, she was completely exhausted.
Kieran scooped her up and carried her to the bathroom, his eyes still dark as he looked at her curled up in his arms.
"You need to work on your stamina. I should start feeding you better," he said.
Lila shot him a deadpan look. It wasn't her stamina that was the problem, it was his that was ridiculous.
How did he handle so much work every day and still have this kind of energy?
Slumped over the edge of the bathtub, she muttered, "You should be working in a factory, drilling screws or something. You'd probably get twice as much done as anyone else."
Kieran smirked shamelessly. "If I did that, I'd have much less time to serve Mrs. Morgan."
Lila turned her face away, cheeks heating up. "Just get out. I'll bathe myself."
Kieran left the bathroom, but the amused smile on his lips remained, which only made her face feel hotter.
The next morning, Kieran had an urgent matter to handle and couldn't join her for breakfast.
Lila drove herself to work and spent the morning buried in tasks.
Halfway through the day, Amelia suddenly rushed in, looking flustered. "Drop what you're doing for a second."
She snatched the papers from Lila's hands and placed her phone in front of her. "Look at this. Right now!"
Lila frowned, confused. She glanced at the screen and her brows furrowed even more.
The news article covered the Morgan Group and Moore Group collaboration, reporting that the two companies had met earlier today for formal discussions.
Lila already knew about this, since Kieran had left early in the morning for it.
