Steam rose from the tea as Lila took a sip, the rich fragrance spreading across her senses.
"So tell me. What qualifies you to be the wife of Morgan Group's president?" Stefan questioned.
"That's not for you to decide. Only Kieran's opinion matters. If he believes I belong at his side, then I am." Lila met his gaze, her voice steady and unwavering.
Stefan paused before speaking again. "How much do you want to leave him?"
"I won't leave Kieran. And I would never walk away from him at a time like this." Lila was firm.
Morgan Group was in a crisis. How could she abandon Kieran now and make him worry about her on top of everything else?
But Stefan had already pulled out a check. "100 million dollars."
Lila frowned and stood up. "I've made myself clear. There's no need to continue this."
"I will have my family help Kieran resolve his crisis if you leave him." Stefan stared at him sharply.
Lila's hands clenched at her sides.
"Are you having second thoughts?" Stefan pressed.
Before she could answer, Stefan's eyes shifted past her. His voice carried a hint of amusement. "He certainly gets news quickly."
Lila turned just in time to see Kieran stepping out of his car. He was wearing the suit she had chosen that morning, the cufflinks the same ones she had bought him for New Year's.
He walked over. As Lila stood up, Kieran placed a hand at her waist, a subtle yet protective gesture. His gaze lowered to meet hers. Upon seeing she was fine, he breathed the faintest sigh of relief.
Stefan spoke first. "You got here fast. But your wife has already agreed to divorce you and have you marry Faith instead."
Lila's eyes widened in shock. "I didn't…"
Before she could finish, Kieran's voice cut through the air. "She wouldn't."
"Are you that certain?" Stefan frowned.
