Jessica stood on the second floor of the hotel and gared out of the window. She could see the stream of vehicles stopping one by one at the entrance. Everyone attending was someone of considerable wealth or status.

She felt everything was a bit surreal. After seven long years, she returned to the place she originally belonged to.

Brian came to the hotel alone. After being turned away twice when attempting to meet Dereck, he knew he had to come in person to find out why Grant Group rejected the proposal to cooperate with Atkinson Group

Someone whispered, “I heard this party is held for the future heiress of Grant Group”

Another person replied. “Yes, Mr. Grant did mention it in private.

Another man chimed in, ‘As far as I know, Mr. Grant only has one daughter, doesn’t he?”

Someone else retorted. “He does have only one daughter. Why? Can’t a daughter inherit a company?”

That man was at a loss for words. He then replied. “That’s not what I meant. I just find it strange. There wasn’t a whisper of this before. Why did Mr. Grant suddenly plan to have his daughter take over the company?”

At that moment, he had not yet made any connection between Jessica and Grant Group. He simply assumed he needed to get to know this so- called heiress

She cast a greedy glance across the hall, taking in the men and women inside. Every single person here had power, wealth, or connections. Making acquaintances with any one of them would be a gain in her eyes

Scanning the crowd, Madeline immediately spotted Brian among the crowd.

“Hey, Mr. Atkinson. She walked over and greeted him with a light smile.

Brian frowned slightly. “Why are you here?”

Madeline replied. “I heard Grant Group rejected our partnership. After asking around. I learned their heiress had returned. I thought there might have been some misunderstanding, so I asked someone for an invitation.”

“Mr. Atkinson, I came without consulting you. That was my mistake.” She added, her face turning slightly pale.
