Chapter 245
Jacob didn’t speak, just glumly turned his head aside. Seeing this, Brian sighed and didn’t continue persuading, saying instead, “I’ll go get you breakfast.”
After he left, Jacob couldn’t hold back his tears anymore. He was really sad. Now he knew he was wrong and hoped Jessica would come to see him.
When Jessica’s parents arrived at the hospital, they happened to see Jacob weeping.
“Jacob, why are you crying?” Stella quickly stepped forward to hug him and comfort him.
Dereck then handed over the gift he brought. “Don’t be sad, Jacob. Guess what this is?”
Jacob lifted his eyes unenthusiastically to take a look; and then suddenly his eyes lit up. “Is this the anime I’ve always wanted to watch?”
“Yeah. Brian said you’ve been wanting to watch this, but he didn’t have time to buy it, so I got it for you. Do you like it?” Stella said with a smile.
Jacob replied without hesitation, “I do!”
“Good. Don’t be sad then. I’ll ask your grandpa to play the anime for you, so stop thinking about unhappy things, okay?” Seeing this, Stella quickly tried to distract him.
Stella had also told Jessica about Jacob’s illness that morning, but Jessica only asked about his condition. After learning he was stable, she didn’t say anything else.
Stella had also asked if she wanted to visit Jacob in the hospital together, but Jessica refused, saying she had worked at the company.
Dereck knew Jessica was just making excuses to avoid visiting Jacob. She still held a grudge against what Jacob and Brian had done in the past. As her parents, they couldn’t solve it, so they could only try to distract Jacob first.
Stella sighed in relief when she saw Jacob happily watching the anime. Before coming, she had asked Brian about Jacob’s preferences and prepared the right gift, successfully diverting his attention.
Otherwise, if Jacob had asked why Jessica didn’t come, she wouldn’t have known what to say.
Jacob was immersed in the new anime and watched several episodes in a row. But after finishing, his mood quickly turned gloomy again. He leaned glumly against the headboard, staring blankly at the hospital room door.
“Jacob, why are you unhappy? Should we switch to another show?” Stella asked worriedly.
“Mom says too much screen time is bad for my eyes. I need to listen to her, so maybe she’ll come to see me,” Jacob said dejectedly, then suddenly looked at Stella. “Grandma, can you tell Mom I’ve been really good now?”
Jacob tightly grasped Stella’s hand and continued, “I really know I was wrong, and I’ll definitely listen to her from now on. Grandma, please, can you Mom for me?”
He missed Jessica so much but dared not call her or go find her. He thought Jessica would definitely be annoyed to see him.
But he really wanted Jessica to know he had changed, hoping she might forgive him or at least not hate him so much. Over time, maybe she would be willing to accept him again.

“Okay, I’ll definitely tell Mom all these things. Don’t get too excited–just focus on getting better. When you’re discharged, come to my house to see Mom, okay?” Stella couldn’t refuse Jacob’s eager eyes and finally tried to soothe him this way.
Jacob nodded firmly. Seeing how obedient he was, Stella couldn’t help but sigh
After leaving the hospital, Dereck and Stella called Jessica and asked her to come home for dinner that night.

Chapter 245
Jessica was silent for a moment after answering the phone at work but eventually agreed. She knew her parents would likely talk about Jacob that night.
She had wanted to refuse, but thinking about the call from Stella that morning mentioning Jacob’s sudden stomachache and hospitalization the night before, she couldn’t help but want to ask about his condition.
After work, Jessica subconsciously started driving toward Atkinson Villa. Jacob should be in the private hospital closest to Atkinson Villa–she had taken him there several times before.
By the time she realized, she was already on the way. Jessica quickly turned around at the next intersection.
She didn’t understand why she had instinctively driven that way after promising her parents to go home for dinner.
Jessica bit her lip, forced herself to calm down, and turned the car around toward Grant Manor.
When Dereck and Stella saw her return, they quickly invited her to sit down and eat. Jessica felt warm inside seeing all her favorite dishes on the table.
After dinner, Stella brought out fruit and chatted with Jessica, several times hesitating to speak.
Jessica couldn’t pretend not to notice. Finally, she said wearily, “Mom, just say what you want to say.”
Stella felt even more unsure of how to start now that Jessica had spoken up.
Dereck couldn’t stand it anymore and said, “It’s about Jacob’s hospitalization. Jessi, your mom and I visited him again today. That kid really misses you. Won’t you go see him?”
