Her smile faded as the thought crossed her mind. She closed the letter and, after a moment’s hesitation, decided against opening the rest. Kids had their privacy, though early romance was absolutely out of the question.

with that thought, Jessica gathered up all the letters, ready to toss them into the trash can, but she hesitated at the very last second. She thought, ‘Forget it. It’s not my job to deal with these anyway. Might as well return them to Jacob and Brian!

Having lost her appetite for the snacks, she haphazardly packed them back up, stuffed the letters into a seplate bag, and headed downstairs for dinner

The next morning, as soon as Jessica anived at the office, she handed the bag of letters

“Jessi, what’s this?” Sana asked, puzzled.

“Just some letters that got delivered by mistake. Pass them on to Jacob when you get a chance,” Jessica replied flatly

“Oh, sure.” Sana nodded before suddenly catching on. “Wait, Jessi. Did Jake visit you again? He brought you something? What was it?” Curiously, she

followed Jessica into her office.

“Some snacks, Want some? I can bring them tomorrow if you’d like,” Jessica said flatly.

“But Jake made those for you, if he found out I ate them, he would probably be sad.” Sana shook her head.

Jessica’s voice turned icy. “I don’t care. Once a gift is given, it’s mine to do with as I please. It’s not like he ever respected the things I gave him before.” Her tone dropped even colder by the end.

Realizing she had hit a sensitive nerve, Sana quickly backtracked. “Jessi, you said it was in the past, Jake has changed a lot. Let’s not dwell on bad stuff Life is about moving forward, right?”

“Uh–huh,” Jessica replied flatly. “Anything else?”

Seeing her visibly foul mood, Sana didn’t push further. “N–no, nothing I’ll go deliver this right away. With that, she turned to leave.

Once she went out, she patted her chest and muttered, “Why does Jessi seem scarier these days? She hardly smiles anymore, way less than when she

was in the hospital.”

Still muttering to herself, Sana drove to Atkinson Villa and handed the bag to Jacob.

I you to give this to me?” Jacob clutched the bag, his excitement impossible to hide.

“Yep. Jessi still cares about you, so don’t break her heart again,” Sana said gently. Her impression of Jacob was fairly positive.

“Of course. I’d never hurt her again. Thanks, Sana. Let me get you some snacks.” Jacob turned to dash off, but Sana stopped him.

“No need. I have to go back to the office. Bye.” Sana waved and strode off.

Too eager to see what Jessica had sent him, Jacob didn’t insist.
