Chapter 139 Emily Is Taken Back
Chapter 139 Emily Is Taken Back
The craft room on the second floor offered a perfect view of the garden below. With just a push of the window, the vibrant scenery unfolded completely.
Giovani had specifically arranged for the craft room to face the garden.
He imagined that whenever Camila felt tired from her needlework, she could stand by the window, breathe in the fragrant air, and let the beautiful garden refresh her mind and body.
Right now, Giovani leaned casually against the window frame, his gaze following Camila and Lucy as they moved about in the garden.
At their conversation, Giovani’s deep eyes narrowed slightly, a faint smirk tugging at his lips. There was a trace of amusement in his eyes, as if he found their interaction particularly intriguing.
Giovani thought Hazel really raised a perceptive daughter. He had initially worried that Camila might attract the attention of scheming men outside, but to his surprise, it was Lucy who seemed intent on “stealing” her away.
Still, Giovani showed no signs of anger. He remained composed, quietly amused as he continued to eavesdrop on their conversation.
Camila paused, her voice soft but firm as she said, “Yes… I agree.”
“Really?” Lucy’s face lit up with joy. She stepped forward excitedly and hugged Camila tightly, her voice brimming with uncontainable happiness. “Camila, when should we leave? How about tomorrow? I’ll book the tickets right away!”
Camila couldn’t see Lucy’s lips or hear her exact words, but she was certain Lucy had said a lot. She gently pushed Lucy away and continued, “I promise to leave with you, but…”
“But?” Lucy’s smile froze, her eyes filled with a mix of nervousness and confusion. “But what?”
Camila’s expression turned conflicted as she bit her lip lightly and said slowly, “I promised Mr. Campbell that I would complete ‘Majestic Bloom‘ for Lindsey.
“At her last birthday banquet, Mr. Campbell spent 7 million dollars to acquire the piece, but due to my carelessness, Agnes tore it apart.”
Her gaze flickered with guilt and self–reproach as she continued, “Besides, Mr. Campbell has been kind to me. When I was at my lowest, when I felt utterly helpless, he was the one who appeared and pulled me back from the edge.
“If it weren’t for him, on the night Emily woke up, I would have jumped off the bridge.”
That night, she had even drunk two bottles of wine worth 300 thousand dollars, which led to her hospitalization due to her body’s inability to metabolize alcohol. The medical expenses were also covered by Giovani.
Camila couldn’t forget everything Giovani had done for her. She owed him too much to walk away.
Lucy’s hands balled into fists. She had never imagined Camila had thought of giving up her life. At that moment, a rush of gratitude washed over her. She was thankful that Camila had crossed paths with Giovani. Otherwise, she might never have seen her again.
Lucy hesitated before asking softly, “So once you’ve repaid Mr. Campbell, can we leave together?”
Camila’s face softened into a gentle smile. “Alright.” With her needlework skills, she was confident she could make a living abroad and avoid falling into dire straits.
Giovani listened quietly, the faint smile in his eyes deepening, like a bottomless lake that concealed its true depths.
“Camila, did I ever say you could leave me? Grandma already sees you as part of our family, and I’ve put my mother’s ring on your finger. How could you just walk away and abandon us like that?‘ he thought.
Still, he had no intention of stopping Camila right away. What he wanted was for her to willingly return to him, even if she did manage to leave.

The next morning, Camila slowly woke from her sleep to the sound of gentle rain pattering against the window, its rh melody filling the air.
As usual, she went through her morning routine with precision, freshened up, and headed downstairs for breakfast. After finishing her meal, she prepared to return upstairs to continue her unfinished needlework.

Just as she turned, a warm, firm hand suddenly clasped her wrist. The meat from his touch seemed to carry an electric charge, surging through her body and making her heart race uncontrollably.
Her wide eyes, which were filled with confusion and surprise, locked onto the man standing before her.
Giovani’s deep, magnetic voice flowed through the air, calm yet commanding. “Camila, take a seat.”

The way he said her name sent a rush of heat to her cheeks, her heart pounding even faster.
She couldn’t remember when it started, but he no longer called her “Ms. Jackson.” And every time he spoke to her, he seemed to insist on pulling her close, as if ensuring she couldn’t escape his gaze.
“Mr. Campbell, is there something you need?” Camila’s voice was soft, tinged with a slight tremor.
“Yes. William’s parents brought Emily,” Giovani said, his tone calm, almost indifferent, as if it were just another mundane matter. But Camila could feel the air around her growing heavy, and the tension was palpable.
Camila’s eyes widened instantly. The moment she had waited for–longed for–over five agonizing years had finally arrived.
Although the truth had already been thoroughly uncovered by Sean, Emily’s presence held extraordinary significance for her.
Emily was the only one who could prove her innocence. Only Emily’s testimony could completely clear the false accusations that had weighed on her for five years.
Following Giovani’s guiding pull, Camila slowly sat down beside him.
Giovani turned slightly, his gaze steady as he addressed Keira. “Keira, open the door. Let them in.”
Enoch and Abigail had been waiting outside the Campbell residence for hours. After they knew the truth from Emily, their faces turned ashen. Guilt and shame weighed them down, leaving them too embarrassed to face Camila.
For over an hour, while Camila got up, washed, and had breakfast, the couple stood motionless in the freezing rain outside the gates, letting the icy water drench them completely.
They didn’t bother with an umbrella, as if trying to punish themselves for their past mistakes and seeking forgiveness from Camila through this self–inflicted suffering.
The relentless rain soaked their clothes, and their wet hair clung to their pale faces, making them look utterly disheveled and pitiful.
Keira opened the door to the residence and called out to the trio standing by the iron gates, “Come in!”
Hearing those words, Enoch and Abigail flinched, their legs suddenly feeling as heavy as lead, unable to move.
